As long as the NJT Conrail unit had NJT reporting marks, what would NS care now it is painted?
Great images. Good black & white photography and printing is an art. No auto exposure cameras back then.
gokeefe, here are a few of the photos of the OCS, including three on the Lewiston Lower branch/wye. Two of them show the telltales. www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPicture.aspx?id=5199303 www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPicture.aspx?id=5199304 www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPicture.aspx?id=5199305 www.rr...
They should send it down the Lewiston Lower! What a photo op that would be! LOL Didn't know the train was operating and stumbled onto it by accident. Have a shot of the train passing under the telltales on the first leg of the wye as well as backing up the other leg in Brunswick. Beautiful sunny da...
We're all suppose to be working to towards the same goal and we end up fighting. This is the kind of stuff that kills preservation efforts. Unfortunately, it seems no one bothered to ask an obvious "what if" in the event things don't work out as planned. You have to expect cost overruns on...
Many pages back there was discussion of using the line for light rail. Some towns the line runs through doesn't want anything that connects with Newark and their town.
They should have used PC and not the PRR. Since they used the PRR, they should have used the Erie and the DL&W and not the EL for the same reason. Wish they had wrapped locomotives. Would have been interesting to see an ALP-46 in Tuscan red with cat whiskers not to mention a GP-40 painted up CNJ...

The crash occurred on the tracks that cross Brighton Avenue, according to a statement from Long Branc...
The railroads don't want short haul business with containers but an even bigger issue is how do you unload them at the distribution center? The centers aren't going to spring for the equipment to off load the containers.
Much more economical they way it is.
A sad day for all here on railroad.net.
I didn't know Noel personally but always respected him for his knowledgeable posts. He will be missed by many.
I think "we" participants are more concerned about NJT as an ongoing entity than the Board is.
NJ Transit is in need of locomotive engineers. They just graduated one class and I think they have three going now.
Not sure if/when there will be additional classes but you can check the NJT website for info. https://www.njtransit.com/tm/tm_servlet ... =CareersTo
And when they built the transcontinental railroad they built now many miles PER DAY? I know the track quality was poor but it was all done by hand. I wonder what they would think of us if they could see this debacle. the transcontinental railroad was built with a good amount of immigrant labor with...
