One of the tender trucks has a crack in its bolster.
I don't, but it's a 70-T car, and has a yellow dot, so it at least 45 yrs old. I'd guess 1960s vintage. Here are pics:

This is an old small cube covered hopper still in service with a fresh paint job and a McGinnis logo... no way this is a revenue car. My guess is company sand - can anyone confirm this?
Effective June 4, STB will up the Class I operating revenue threshold to $900 million; the Class II threshold will be $40.4 million. Thas was in response to a petition by MRL.

Mr. Cowford, I'm thinking Warren is not going to sit idly by while CP controls traffic - the Mexican traffic - that KCS had been giving him at, say, KC. Another point; lest we forget, the Mexican government still owns a good chunk of NdeM/KCSM as well. Well, KCSI owns outright KCSM and the concessi...
Somehow, I think Warren will "get in on the action" for the Mexican lines. How? Ferromex is owned 26% by UP, the remainder being held by Grupo Mexico.
Street view says it all. A complete rebuild will be needed, including installation of crossing protection.
I think it was the Kineo branch under the MEC? At least in the 70s, MEC referred to it as the Bingham Branch, as it ran as far as.... Bingham. Another thread indicates it was cut back to N Anson in 1977 and rails removed in '78. I'd respectfully dispute that, as I have a late 1979 MEC timetable tha...
There will be a large amount of operational integration and infrastructure upgrade work to be done beforehand too, last thing you want is to switch a bunch of business over day 1 and fumble it. Not want to do? Maybe. Have to do anyway? Absolutely. I can't think of any examples of the former, but pl...
True!
Newpy, what I also found interesting is that the old haulage agreement was between CMQ and "NBM Railways". PAR was not party to the agreement.
You learn something new every day.
Haulage (if a party feels they are being unfairly subjected in one way or another) absolutely may come under the purview of the STB. The most recent example is CP vs PAR re: NMJ If you're referring to PAR requesting a condition for the CP sale, you are misinterpreting the ask: The condition was the...
A couple points: Mr Tosh - haulage is a bilateral contract between two roads and outside of STB jurisdiction. Also, consider that in this case, this is actually an international haulage agreement. I'm not aware of any such trackage rights agreements and how they would be administered between STB and...
RE Auburn... location aside, the SLR site has the same problem as the Yard 8 facility. Low-tech and much too small for today's "mainstream" intermodal services. Portland has ~700-ft loading tracks; Auburn has ~1,100-ft loading tracks. Campare with "greenfield" Mechanicville, NY (...
