I was looking around this map and then using bing maps for the birds eye view for comparison. I noticed on bing maps at the Grand Ave terminal/transload tracks in Queens theres a string of 5 tank cars and a truck backed up to boxcar. Does anyone know who these customers might be and what they're com...

Just a quick observation, admiration foods looks like they no longer get plastics hoppers which means they likely no longer make their own containers. There’s new piping crossing the track extending way down the length of their storage track to almost every spotted tank car. There’s also a new track...

I'd vote for Closter! Cool pocket siding for the stone seller, great station, lots of interest north of Closter Dock Road for the team track, JJ Demarest, Reuten Windows... and that team track had a fantastic 'stopper", not exactly a bumping post, but sort of a forged or cast low level arcing ...

I'm back at this topic after a few years and re-reading some of these threads. PD you said... ...The big operations in the 1960's/70's in englewood were Joe Lowe, GM, and Sexton. They were switched 6 days a week. Everything else was a 2 car a week operation... what car types did these three industri...

Really great information here. I've been hovering around google and Bing maps looking for industries to model for the new layout. Any other information on the magazine that had the "Let's model the newark branch" article?

I was trying to figure it out for myself before I asked the question but does anyone know who it is/was that got the BNSF covered hoppers for recycled glass? I went through the map and couldn't find this customer.

Edit: never mind I got it, EWG Glass in Queens

I am pleased to report that Oak Point Yard is jam-packed with more boxcars than I've ever seen there before :-D Also, almost every warehouse boxcar spot in the neighboring buildings has a boxcar. I assume this is seasonal beverage business, but I don't recall seeing it so busy in prior years. I not...

Nice, so they still have #1133. I was wondering what happened to it, even got a new logo on the cab, some sort of lighting on the roof and the red stripe across the hood is gone.

There is definitely a runaround track, I took these in 2012. I guess it's easier for them to runaround in the 1st ave yard

What ever you can find out on Bauer & Black would be greatly appreciated. If you happen to stumble upon Magic Mix in your search let me know as well, thanks again for your input.

How did Northern branch trains leave Hoboken? It seems like trains headed to Hoboken had the engine at the front of the train would back down this lead track then head forward. Does this mean when the train headed to sparkil or nyack the engine would push the coaches to this lead track then proceed ...
