Re: Here's an MTA Washington Birthday Timetable logo?

I don’t think we are allowed to celebrate that anymore. Supposedly he went between Port Jeff and Patchogue on what is now NYS Rt. 112.

Looking at the Cover of this months “Railway Age” can we nickname the new Acela sets “Dolphins”?

With the downfall of Detroit’s industry notably Automotive is there still a need for CSAO in the region vs when enacted in 1999?

I think you can throw Atlas terminal in Queens and Lilco(Long Beach) on the list? I believe the Atlas engine is in front of the mall now in Glendale, Queens.

Watco Business at Rumford, Maine

Someone sent me an article about pulpboard paper plants, one being near Rumford, Maine. Another plant will also be contractually switched by Watco Industries. Is this newer business for Pan Am or have these plants been active? I’m just going off the assumption they’re both off of Guilford Trackage.

Re: LIRR Dispatching

I think Head-in-view is correct, Divide mostly had train directors. At least in the 90’s, 2000’s quite a colorful cast of characters. They would be willing to pull pranks on newer employees who called for permission to operate a switch or get paperwork. I think like a lot of things current those day...

Re: NYAR Train Sighting Thread.

That same power was in Poscillico near New Highway today(6/24/19) in Farmindgale. I figured it was because of the LIRR trackwork and they get boxed out?

Re: Service Disruption - Montauk Branch

A few people were quick to assume human crew era. I think that newer signal system went in around 2005/06 when they shifted to color lights from PD to SK. I’m pretty amazed something more you would’ve expected in the manual block days with a sideswipe like that. Glad to hear no injuries to passenger...

Re: Faux FDR Car Removed

The car actually released and applied when the locomotive sent air through the air brake system. It probably sat dormant for like 40 years(anybody confirm)? All they had to do was change a hose on the old baggage car. This means they didn’t have to bypass the air brake system and the brakes work as ...

It’s more of a quick money grab for the MTA selling the air rights to infuse some quick cash.

If they deck it over with a parking garage I’ll be through the roof. They’ll be some parking over there now in the LIC/ Hunterspoint Avenue area.

Re: Bushwick Branch and Beer

Most of the carts at Penn and Hunters Point Avenue were adorned by the infamous Budweiser label. I still hear passengers say how much they miss the MTA LIRR/Metro North carts and in Metro North’s case bar cars. The last LIRR bar cars were with the the single level coaches? I know this a public forum...

I’m assuming just north of there is where they’re talking about expanding storage tracks and transloading in BK.
