Re: 116th and 125th getting too large in NYC Transportation?

And with Columbia expanding as they are supposed to, I would not be surprised if (either as part of Phase 2 or as a Phase 2a) the 96th-125th Street portion were to be expanded to include going all the way across 125th (with transfers at all stations along the way), ending on a low elevated platform ...

Wasn't crime the reason the old entrance was closed off from 30th Street?

I would understand why Amtrak would not want it reopened now, especially with the safety concerns following 9/11.

I believe Philly went to buses in the overnights 20 years ago because of severe problems with "box cities" in the concourses of both the Walnut-Locusts station (Broad Street Line) and 13th Street Station (Market-Frankford). I remember walking through those in the early '90s before the end ...

I believe the street in that area was too narrow to go with four tracks across plus a mezzanine.

I believe that station and 86th in Manhattan on the 4/5/6 are the only express stations that don't have a crossover or crossunder.

Re: #7 Subway to NJ/Secaucus

This is a great idea if it can come off, however: I'd be looking to actually build this so it can go to The Meadowlands from Secaucus. Having it go to the Sports Complex to me would make this VERY worthwhile, especially if somehow The Meadowlands Racetrack does stay open. Even if not, being able to ...

That's still a long ways off:

I suspect there will be quite a few more changes before we get the "stubway" to 96th Street open on the SAS.

And as said before: What really needs to be done is to extend Phase 2 all the way across 125th Street to a (likely) low elevated terminal at 125th Street/Broadway-12th Avenues, as by the time that would be built, Columbia University will be in the midst of a massive expansion in that area (obviousl...

Re: Passage Between 34th/Herald Square and Penn Station?

I vaguely remember from the stone ages that there was once an underground passage between somewhere in the 34th Street/Herald Square subway station/PATH complex and Penn Station or the 7th Ave subway there. Or am I just delusional? (as is more likely :-D ) If there really was such a beastie, when a...

Subway mentions on "24"

Those of you who have seen "24" this season know it is being set in New York (though filmed in LA for the most part), and there was one notable subway mention in the 3:00 AM-4:00 AM episode: In that episode, Chole (Mary Lynn Rajskub) noted that the terrorists were holding a hostage near t...

Just don't try to do aything with that, sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. That I agree. You have to be very careful with that. Sounds like they really screwed up the runaway part at the end of the '09 version. Why not just have it like the original run to South Ferry, which apparently is wha...

Perhaps we are not talking about the same bathrooms for the same gender. I am talking about the male bathrooms in the back right corner, closest to Track 7. I don't find them acceptably clean... but let's not argue over bathrooms! :-D If you mean Suburban Station, I've been in that bathroom recentl...

The Mariott is more like 12th and Mkt. I'd be surprised if the Courtyard (the Mariott entrance across from City Hall with a valet) has a restroom in the lobby. Especially since as I recall the Courtyard is actually the former City Hall Annex building. As for the lack of restrooms on SEPTA, they pro...

Isn't one of the reasons SEPTA doesn't have restrooms on the trains is also fears of the homeless going into them and making them unsanitary at best and possibly much worse?

why is trenton the most important place to offer it from? I'd say it's the schuylkill corridor which also happens to be one of the asier places to access the highline. the region could start with Eagles specials that operate with deisel to test the waters. OTOH, the new Philly live isn't enough to ...
