The pans on the AEM-7's have little aerofoils on them- basically little wings to help them keep contact with the catenary at high speeds. The direction the aerofoils face is set to run front pan up in the direction of travel. When Septa was leasing the ACS 64's from Amtrak they were told they run th...
#238 is still sitting behind Wayne Electric Shop. 257 was cut in half and hauled away on trailers from Overbrook Shop a couple years ago. The # boards on 9001 were most likely taken by souvenir hunters years ago.
2308 has been sitting in Powelton Yard since before X-mas coupled to the DOT train.

As of today there are 58 of them back in service.
It's a temporary fix for now, forged equalizer beams are being made to replace all the beams including the fabricated beams in use now. As for the fix for the fix no word yet.

Well the news is Septa is buying the MARC cars.
The Marc train with the Marc cab car lays over in Roberts Yard during the day, sometimes both Mark sets are in Roberts during the day. They both get a calendar day inspection at night in Powelton Yard. Where they go and come from I do not know. They come into and leave Roberts from the south end of ...
I've seen 10 car SL V moves and 12 car SL IV non-revenue moves. Also mixed consist moves with both 4's and 5's and a married pair of SL IV's towing 2 bomber cars.
The inside of the cab is the same as ACS-64. It's a little hard to hear that 16 cyl. Cummins in the video.
The crews have headlights on both ends lit when making yard moves because they change direction allot. Also sometimes there is a problem with the lights where they won't turn off or ditch lights stay on, there's a box in the ceiling above the cab with adjustments for the light settings.
Found out that Rotem will be repairing the trucks at their South Philly plant. Only the trucks will be sent there. They will/are detrucking some of the SL V's and using trucks from the comet cars as shop trucks while repairs will be made.
The Frankentrain train - Septa cab car, MARC coaches, and Amtrak loco received 2 more MARC coaches and the other push pull with the MARC cab car received 3 of the MARC coaches.
