Does UP 844 Have MU Recepticle?

I was watching the "Extreme Trains" episode about the UP 844 and in one scene showing the rear of the tender there appeared to be an MU jumper cable plugged into it like on a diesel. Considering the wealth of Union Pacific, have they installed a device that allows the steam engine crew to ...

the Happening-what kind of locomotive

In the trailer, there is a train that stops due to the crew losing communication with "everyone". Equipment looks like MARC or some other northeastern commuter line. At first I thought unit was a CF7, but nose is too angular, like a GP38.

MOVIE: Hancock, Train Wrecks

In this movie Will Smith plays a drunken superhero who, I guess while trying to do good, smashes a freight train causing the cars to jackknife behind the units. Looks like computer generated special effects finally provides us with a really awesome movie train wreck. The Fugitive (Harrison Ford) had...

Eat, read Motor Trend, read the rule book, run over crap (keyboards, vacuum cleaners, whatever plasticky objects we can find) with the engine, eat some more, talk on the phone, blow the horn/wave at women...

TV: America's Port

On the National Geographic channel there is a new show about the ports of LA/Long beach. It's not solely about trains, but it shows RR operations in the port. New show, so they've got to tackle the RR end of it sooner or later.

60 MPH with a lite CF7 feels like you are in one of those low-riders with the hydraulic suspension.

Now, years later, the engineer is being sued What of the statute of limitations? That is unfortunate. I agree with you both in terms of dumping it in relation to possibly derailing the train. Sometimes we have empty flats and loaded LPG cars in the same train and on the couple of close calls I have...

Saw this in the comments section of Youtube and started thinking: Do I shoot the train only after I strike a vehicle at a crossing, or before? Had an old head tell me one time "don't be crossing-shy--stay on the horn, if you hit, then dump it". Was running down the main once, had it in 8, ...

I might need to open my timetable (not GCOR), but I thought a light engine was permitted max speed for freight (60MPH in my territory) unless otherwise restricted; under 12 axles being prepaired to stop at signaled X-ings in case they were not activated.

Nothing says SAFETY like wearing, in 98* weather with 100%humidity, a superfluous layer of clothing that snags on pin lifters, switch stands, locomotive doors, hinges, motor vehicle doors, ladders etc. I especially like how it blocks my back pocket so I cant put my switch list in there without lifti...

Strider, did you approximate your hire-and leave dates on your online application, or were they accurate? Were you ever fired from a job? I went to a BNSF session and they said that dates, terminations and other information must be correct or you will not be considered. They DO contact previous empl...
