Who owns the FEC SD70M-2s? I wonder where they'll end up next...
Hey all,
Anyone know if the Harding Secondary from Mansfield over to Ontario in Ohio sees any movement now that the GM Fisher Body Plant is closed and demolished? Things look pretty bare on Google Earth, sans a few stored 86' boxcars it appears. Thanks for the insight!

Nice map there! The restrictions I was talking about on the line to StL have to do with width/height of freight cars. Apparently there were some rr bridges, road bridges, and cuts, that would have restricted the use of larger cars today. I forget the exact locations and restrictions off hand, and I'...
After EL went into CR in '76, why didn't more of the western end of the railroad get operated by Erie Western or another shortline? There were online industries west of Lima. Seems like the entire line west of Marion (especially if the EL trust could have kept all of the trackage west of the Akron a...
Check here - a couple photos.

Hi all, I have developed a concept for a model railroad and decided to make a website for it (same old web address, but new website). The Ohio & Indiana is based on a fictional history of railroading in the Midwest. A short history lesson: In the formation of Conrail in 1976, Chessie ended up bu...
Can anyone provide a list of the industries served by EL on their west end (mainly west of Marion) right before the Conrail merger and west end abandonment? I know shortlines have operated various sections of this line over the years, so there had to be industry - but I've always heard of this part ...
Did EL have any more than one business car at the time of the CR merger?
When did NS open their TC roadrailer facility in Ft Wayne? Was Conrail initially a partner in this terminal, or did they come in later? Thanks!
General Motors had a plant (until the flock of recent closures) in Mansfield (Ontario), Ohio. It's on an ex-EL line and went to NS after the breakup. I believe it was a body plant (for what frames?), and am curious as to where parts came in from and then where the frames went out to for assembly? An...
Word has it that FEC is going to be leasing the three CITX SD70M-2's and that they are already enroute to Florida (I believe they were on lease to BNSF). Can anyone confirm this or provide more details?
Glad to hear construction will be resuming soon. Any idea on how long it will take to finish building the facilities? Not to side-track this topic, but approx. how many carloads is the WNY&P moving per year now? The only number I've ever seen was 2000 carloads from their startup year, but I'm su...
I forgot about that Despatch Shops scheme Scot - great interpretation!
Had the EL gone to Chessie in ‘76, what would have come of the old Erie west of Sterling? We all know the history of these parts of the lines, so no need to repeat that. But was there ever a plan put out there as to what would happen with this trackage? For the what-if part, I think that these line...
