If this is on private property, with the track NOT owned by the railroad, you may have a bit more leeway in design, although since the tracks will be connected to the "general railway system" of the nation, some federal items may apply anyway. There are too many variables to be able to gi...

I know the CMRR skates their equipment to prevent the Kingston "off duty car inspectors" from doing roll bys. They also chock chain some long standing equipment for safety as well. Adds a little time but not much. Runaways are never a good thing and the fact that this has happened before ...

I wonder how many of these types of things are going to happen before we have to start locking brake release handles with switch locks .... (and yes, I know that would require modifications ....) I believe that all sidings that are used for setting out the cars purpose, not for trains bypassing eac...

the case would not have gone far the Feds would have put a stop that from going anywhere.

hopefully she got a fine for trespassing that's just costly enough to make her think twice about walking on railroad property again!

Most Railroad agents will ask that rail fans please keep to a 50 - 100 feet away from the tracks at the most part. In the Yards the property lines are not always marked Park where you see other railfans sitting by the tracks if they have not been told to depart from the area then it's safe to say it...

Finger Lakes Ry in Auburn NY has the "Beer Track". And Ware MA, on the Mass Central, has "The Avenue". NYC in Rochester used to have the "Old Way", a branch about 3/4ths of a mile long which used to be the old way into Eastman Kodak before that plant expanded long ago....

I think the best way to keep track of what is going on with Finger Lakes is to follow the Cayuga Valley Model Railroad site on Facebook. thought I would share it as random photos do get posted showing the new main line track alignment and switches that are going in on the North side of Auburn. https...

NRG must be a big outfit? There are between 2 and 4 of there trains that run South threw Cherokee Yard here in Oklahoma on BNSF bound for Texas. The trains are new as of this year as I never saw them last year. It's nice to see coal drags again with TXUX and WFCX coal trains. Every now and then abou...
