The article was true in 2019 when it was published... and yes, the 553 is still running. Finding no proof of a LGBTQ car on Metrolink... got a reference? No 553 not running and hasn't been running for a couple years. It was sitting in the Cal Ave shop up until end of July. I know this because I was...

For the most part 6.30 on the Genava Sub is not in effect. But the one exception is when they have to use track two for loading and unloading passengers. Usually 90% of time this will happen between Villa Park and Elmhurst where the Disp will run us track two to get around either an inbound or outbo...

I'm only speaking from my experience of working commuter on the UP side. If everything is working right with the PTC most Engineers can get through the process in about 3-4 minutes. We have cheat sheets for different consist from 4 car up to 11 cars. After awhile you start memorize a lot this info e...

It actually should end up running on all three UP lines. As it will lead with CNW and State of Illinois unit for the DMSQ train. First on the Geneva, then Harvard, and finally Kenosha lines. I pulled right next it the train this morning at CPT/OTC. And it followed the M21 west.

Sorry I don't have insight on jobs...unfortunately some of my fellow furloughed co workers are also looking for those possible vacant jobs that aren't in great numbers.

There are quite a bit of furloughed qualified Engineers and Conductors throughout the industry right now with FRA licenses. I'm not saying there aren't any smaller obscure companies looking for train crew. Your chances are extremely low.

All Dispatchers for Geneva, Harvard, and Kenosha Subs are based out of Omaha. Earlier this year the Chicago Terminal Disp Desk was moved there as well to Omaha after being at Proviso along with the Villa Grove Disp. Some old C&NW guys didn't move but some did move. Pretty much all of the C&...

A couple of those F59H's should be running on the UP lines in near future. Most likely N and NW line till they install the ATC to the units.

It's supposed to start in the spring, but thats always subject to change. I'm only guessing, but this project will be easily 18 month 2yr project. 6 miles to fill in the gap with a lot more work to be done than the current project.

Yep it already had replaced it. It's just now when PTC goes down you will get block in advance of movement. Just like under the rules for ATC and ATS.

It's not a rumor it is true ATS will be removed from service 1100 central time for both Harvard and Kenosha Subs per Sub Division General Order.

Does this mean that when Amtrak is forced to detour over the Geneva Sub, they won't have to have a UP locomotive leading for the ATC cab signal requirements anymore once PTC is fully operational on that line (as PTC will replace ATC)? Eventually yes that would include seeing foreign power leading t...
