Target field is the terminal for the Northstar trains. It couldn't be a terminal for a new Amtrak train without new infrastructure and agreements. But that area is very constrained. St Paul Union Depot has two platform tracks. At the very least you could have the train layover in one track, and have...
It doesn't look like they changed much on this locomotive. A "MARC" decal, a MD flag. They left the NJ stripes on it.
Article about the Tuscaloosa Amtrak Station- The photo used for the article is of a model railroad , New York Central. If I were Norfolk Southern I would also be holding out to make sure that a new station were at full scale. https://www.tuscaloosanews.com/news/20190407/alberta-amtrak-plans-fall-thr...
Funny, I was going to say the opposite- I haven't seen any of these trains in awhile, I thought that they had stopped.
What about the LIRR service that they had to lease MARC train cars for last summer? I would think that could be something that Amtrak could take over from LIRR.
Amtrak doesn't get any revenue from the over build. The general services administration sold the air rights in 2006. Amtrak was not involved. (much to their chagrin).
So that 3rd track is for maintenance access from the highway shoulder?
Not quite- this doesn't include the Frederick Branch.
Would Amtrak run with the 3rd rail in all of Metro-North's electrified territory? Or is this just for emergencies that force them into Grand Central? What are they doing this summer?
I saw 9800 in Ivy City as part of a 3 car train, parked under the red line trestle for a few days last week.
The metro option has been a nice favor for the commuter railroads. if the red line is down, can i show my SmarTrip card to a MARC conductor and use that instead?
So they are running six trains out of Frederick. The yard there has 4 storage tracks, and since MTA owns the line, they are probably ok with blocking the main overnight? They must be serving Point of Rocks by backing into the station. Where do the trains go that are being evacuated from Brunswick Ya...
That's a shed, I have the same one, its from Home Depot. They are probably using it to store equipment.
Charger 81 in service this afternoon by itself. The other day it was with an MPI but I wasn't fast enough for a pic.
With the bombardier bi levels, on the Frederick line?
