From this year's Annual Picnic, 2 weekends ago... No 10, WW&F boxcar 309 and coach 3 approach Alna Center station during an early evening photo freight. In the foreground: handcar No 2, and the museum's 1922 Ford-powered reproduction railcar. Stephen http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7109/7830606862...
Thank you for your replies and help!

Hi, looking for advice on buying a scanner. My dad used to have the kind (Regency I think?) you actually inserted the "crystals" into for each frequency... but I really have no idea what's out there these days that fans use to listen to the railroads, etc. Best brand, anything to avoid, av...
I think it's terrific that they've repainted this loco into a heritage scheme. (did any B&M GP9's ever wear maroon and gold paint?) Wonder if there was ever any consideration to giving the unit back its original number, 1738. I guess this effort was meant to create more of a "stand in"...
Thanks for the replies...interesting! The road by the quarry off hwy 30 (north of Dorset) could have been a ROW. Its set back for a road but its hard to tell. I've thought this as well...the angle of that road looks like a ROW...but it doesn't appear to continue on the other side of Rt 30...maybe Rt...

I did not mean to imply rail service for the proposed Home Depot. During discussions at one of the planning board meetings the truck traffic concerns led to comments about Atlantic Gelatin and their rail spur. As for the developer's "story," he showed off a "letter of intent" fro...
I grew up in Stoneham, and I still have family there. A couple of years ago a developer was trying to jam a Home Depot down the town's throat, adjacent to I-93 just south of Atlantic Gelatin, at Exit 35. It was defeated, but during the zoning and conservation process the subject of increased truckin...
Bill is 100% correct. I shot the attached photo in the vicinity of "Ballpark Station." Sad but true.

Anything is "restorable," and it sure would be nice to see the 250 running again. I spent many summer days of my youth on fire patrol, putting out small fires along the Wolfeboro RR ROW that were caused by this engine...and loved every minute of it. Where could she run now?? Conway? Rockl...
