Re: Ring of Steel: Fare Gates at BOS, BON, & BBY

Even if they have a paper ticket, they (theoretically) can't use it again at the gate even if the conductor never scanned/collected it. Is there confirmation that the gates are reading paper tickets and voiding/using them up so they cant be used again? And if not, all this does is push people back ...

Yes the second NEC train an hour doesnt run all day on weekends, just in the peak direction.

Ive wondered about those Rahway trains. What an odd place to turn them if theres no real turn-back option.

We are still are probably barely at 50% of normal work week commuting traffic levels compared to pre-covid. The weekends though apparently are more like 75-80%. Eventually we will get back 2019 levels, but we still might be a year or more away. The biggest need, IMO is on weekends. Since theres onl...

Sad day for the rail industry. A relatively intact right of way sacrificed for a bike lane. Rail trails like this are not the answer for commuter congestion or climate change. Increased routes for passenger rail increase the opportunities for people in certain neighborhoods to utilize rail service ...

Happy to see this service added but I'm really surprised about the "matching schedules to ridership demands" bit. Its simply not true. Was just on a weekend train that was standing only. At Secaucus, they only let people off, not on. NJT has done nothing to address the fact that travel pa...

Considering the Key map still dont include Trenton STATION, does this mean NJT printed tickets will continue to be sold?

Every track has elevator and escalator (up only) access, it is an easy station to navigate.

The NJT express bus service from Manhattan and Newark to the park is pretty decent.

New Brunswick used to have a rental location at the train station, but it closed.

This was my experience: I met my friend at 30th, I also ended up arriving via Amtrak, as theyre offering low fares ($30 vs regular $50) We went to the SEPTA area and there were 3 agents. They let us in for free with Amtrak tickets, no issue at all. We exited at Suburban the same way, with no issue a...

Does the via/tunnel ticket allow me to exit the platform at 30th and re-enter it? Ive been to 30th many times - my friend never has, so it's easier for me to say "ill meet you by the customer service desk in the middle of the giant train hall" instead of trying to direct them to septa-lan...

Good to know the exit only fares. They are not part of the official tariff provided and more of a temporary measure/pricing while the new system goes into full adoption as far as I understand them so that may be why they are so hidden. The via ticket if available from Trenton station is still your ...

I am planning a trip with someone who has mobility issues. They are arriving via Amtrak from the south. I will be waiting for them at the station, arriving via Trenton. Their Amtrak ticket is supposed to entitle them to a free ride to Market East. So I want to know how much my ticket would be. It i...

Finally, Im having trouble finding out what the fare is between 30th Street and Suburban on regional rail? Anyone know what it is? If I may ask, is there a particular reason (luggage, connections, etc.) you’d want to use the RRD to make that short trip? The subway and subway-surface trolleys make t...

Does paper tickets going away include the NJ Transit tickets? If so, is there any system in place to facilitate transfers in Trenton? Also, browsing the website, it seems like the most cost-effective option to ride from Trenton is to pay the cash exit fare downtown...? Its cheaper than the paper tic...
