It is still owned by CSX and leased to the CF&E.

And some more photos of the line:

"Good" or not this is the official map from the Ohio Department of Transportation:

"ODOT" implies Ohio, but it might still help to let us known the full location when making inquiries.

Re: When was the "Old Road" abandoned from Ottawa Lake and R

I do recall an old issue of Rail Classics with an article by John Uckley on the "Old Road" in southeastern Michigan, but I can't remember which exactly it was in. Turning up a copy of that might help.

Downers Grove comes to mind. There's some shopping downtown and good eats are nearby, too.

Re: Indianapolis "hot spot" recommendations?

"Indianapolis" and "hot spots" are mutually exclusive terms. The busiest line through town is the CSX Indianapolis Line and that only sees 20-25 in a day, mostly at night. Otherwise it's hit-and-miss with the various branches and secondary lines around town.

Re: TRAINS Magazine/Amtrak Conference - March 6

I'll be there, Amtrak tickets are booked and conference registration is done. I don't see Amtrak making any big announcements at this event, surely it will just serve to reinforce the status quo, but it is a good excuse to go to Chicago for a weekend!

Re: Organizing Pictures

In boxes from Logan organized by railroad and then by division/subdivision if applicable. Shortlines are filed together in boxes alphabetically. I keep purchased photos grouped by photographer if a collection (mostly) fills its own box, otherwise they're filed in a miscellaneous "Purchased" box.

What about the sidings on the Chicago to St. Louis corridor? I know they're really slow; are they also hand-throw as well?

It's about half done. The site is graded and new tracks are already being laid.
