I witnessed something strange with the ASA on an 1800 series car yesterday. The train's LED screen's were broken, but the announcements were working. However, at one point, the train started going through all the stops it could announce, as follows: "Alewife" "Davis Square" "...

According to NETransit, 928 is up North as well, therefore there are now 4 K cars on the North Side.

I certainly have been waiting (although I don't really use the commuter rail that much).

How are the platforms going to look? Are they going to put that textured yellow line in? Also, where did you hear about this? I'd love to get more info b/c I'm from Belmont.

I see one of the trains with a K car in it go by a lot on the Fitchburg line. I usually see it once or twice per day. I wonder how long it will be before we get any more. Although they may bring the ones currently servicing in NY to the North Side when they're done.

I noticed a train with a K car today! I was at school (right next to the Fitchburg Line tracks) and saw a train pass by. I swear that the train behind the engine was a double decker. I looked it up later, and indeed noticed that NETransit has two K cars listed as being up north. I saw that same trai...

Kawasaki Cars on a Fitchburg Line Siding

I saw something odd today. I was at the Fresh Pond Mall (near Alewife), and noticed that there were some K-Cars that were stopped over on the commuter rail. I soon realized that they were on one of the sidings off the Fitchburg Line. I wonder what they were doing up there, because its been awhile si...

Hey, I can help with this one: http://www.historicaerials.com/ This is a great website that shows old ariel photos, so you can see the route and where it went. Overall, the line came overground after Chinatown (formerly Essex) and followed Washington Street all the way to Forest Hills. http://www.yo...

I voted for the Rohr because of their cool propulsion noise and their cream colored interiors. I honestly like them all though, there is very little difference between them. As for propulsion noise, I like the Rohrs the best. I have always liked the noise that comes from the 1800s in Boston, so I re...

Best Places to railfan on the WMATA

Hey guys, I know I started posting in another thread, but I will start a new one based on several questions I have: I have recently been very interested in the WMATA. I think its a very nice system and I hope I can get the chance to ride it. I have mapped it out on google maps so I know what each se...

I'm definitely interested in whether this is possible. I'm from the Boston area and have ridden all over the MBTA. I have taken recent interest in the WMATA and at some point hope to visit DC so I can ride as much of it as possible.

Belmont officials are proposing to build a pedestrian underpass near the high school. I think it's a great idea but there probably isn't any money for it. I sure hope it can get built. Me, and many other BHS students believe its a good idea to have a tunnel under the tracks. There is even a FB grou...

I also noticed awhile ago that the southbound orange line platform at State has NO speakers. You cannot hear the announcements there. I didn't notice if there were message displays there.
