I'm taking a "stab in the dark" with this, as a possibility:

As a citizen of the Commonwealth it's nice to see what the T is doing to improve service and as a railfan if I get a picture of it at a weird location. In this case, you know what they're doing...having F40PH units majorly overhauled. I just don't see how a picture and/or knowledge of the transport...

As a railfan, and appreciative observer of the interaction occurring within these (MBTA) forums, I do want to ask a serious question which relates to what this thread has seemingly become focused on (itself being a small indication of general "railfandom"): Why is there such high interest ...

I fixed that for you.

https://www.auctionsinternational.com/auction/20337/item/mbta-scrap-trolleys-ma-20337-7-bp-123817 It's sad to see the 3 LRV work cars (among other Type 7s) up for the scrap bid (at least as a fan...I'm guessing staff would say otherwise). Will there ever be dedicated work cars again, or is that conc...

Hearing one of the GP40MC's is headed to the Fore River for repairs...Is that how desperate they are just to get AN engine back in service? In a nutshell, yes. Full disclosure, though they're apples & oranges regarding what their respective companies are tasked to do, Fore River does great work...

Caboose 100 is out of the paint booth with a new brown/boxcar red paint scheme. No lettering yet. Any info as future plans for it? First, there is no "paint booth" at FRVT....only the engine house itself. With that said, the caboose was hand-painted. FRVT100.jpg Second, there's still a go...

Twin Rivers Technologies owns and operates the FRVT. Everything other than the 17 is owned by Twin Rivers Technologies. Thanks fogg for the clarification! A few tidbits...their Geep, 7750 is on active duty with 102, as the 101 is undergoing some body work. The 17 has been temporarily moved to the a...

I cannot recall which incident happened to which locomotive so I'm unsure what 17 needs to be operational again. INVESTMENT. If I remember correctly, I believe the MWRA only owns #17, so funds to repair it would be MWRA's responsibility (and I was given the impression the MWRA is in no hurry to do ...

I'm not trying to be disrespectful at all, as I can see Mr. Joyce had a significant impact on MBTA culture/discussions...with that said, this thread has been a "sticky" for 3 years now. Will it be cataloged with the other non-sticky threads anytime soon? At this rate, when Mr. Bradley Clar...

C'mon Ken, you never had a bad week where things just consistently go wrong? Granted, it's unusual for the BL to have some type of problem for those # of consecutive days, but don't spin it like the line is crumbling before our eyes. And Mavericks potential increase in ridership has no bearing on if...

Any Idea why it I in the engine house then? it was way out of the way were it was. There might have been some equipment moves to accommodate getting the other engines in the house for simultaneous work. It's not large enough to accommodate the 17, 7750, 101 & 102 at the same time, so 17 may hav...

A check (drive by on the way home from work) showed the Number 17 sitting out on the working track, by the engine house where the active unit is normally parked over night. Not sure, but if I where a betting man I would say this unit is back in service. will check back next Monday. I wish I could s...
