Joe, I sent you a PM.
Does anyone know how the LIRR 207 was modified into the 101? It looks like the end steps were changed and of course the fuel tank. For the short hood, it looks like the former high hood was cut down, and the very top of it used as the top of the new short hood with the roof hatch. Just curious about...
The last update I saw on this unit was in this thread from 2012:

I also saw #220 in D&H livery, I think on railpictures.net. By livery I mean with the herald on the cab, not to imply it was repainted.
I found this photo:

milepost39: the LIRR went with the high hood C420 for the steam generator.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen reference to another railroad using those or any photos. I’d like to see them made too. One thing that I’ve noticed with manufacturers is that they say there were only a small amount of the prototype in service, whether it’s a locomotive or some car, and too costly for t...
I think I remember that signal too, and believe it was removed during the Ronkonkoma electrification.
They’re mounted in the ground. Picture a car turning onto the track, it’s doing that at an angle. I’m assuming it’ll hit one of the posts and stop if the post doesn’t break away. I’m sure some agency at some level spent a lot of money on studies to come up with this solution. Hopefully they actually...
I noticed over the past week at 2 crossings that crash posts, or maybe more properly, anti-crash posts, have been installed. I wasn’t able to get a photo, but there are 2 posts on each side of the track located between the gate and the track. Looks like if a car turns onto the track, the posts will ...
Last night someone posted photos on Facebook of 3100 and those other scrap cars going over the Hellgate Bridge. He just happened to be on the Tri Borough at the same time.
From what I saw it’s just the building down.
I saw today that the Pinelawn station was razed. Was able to get a photo while sitting in traffic but can’t seem to upload it here.
That looks like it probably was what it was for. The diesel roster here has it listed: http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/lirrdi ... er2009.htm
That red brick building identified as a paper company on the first page of this topic looks to be a pile of rubble now. I noticed it the end of September, beginning of October but haven't gotten a chance to get a photo.
