Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

I don't think they've ever run 4266 backwards. I've only ever seen it paired with another engine or double ended also with another engine. But if I'm wrong and anyone has any pictures of it running backwards, I'd love to see!

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

Does 4266 not get used regularly? I remember back in the late 90's they'd connect it with another engine to make the runaround with.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

I saw a picture of 4266 leading a consist on nerail. The consists had engines on each end. Does CSRR not do the runaround at Conway or Bartlett anymore? That would seriously be a disappointment if they do not. http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=201909022025519187.jpg&order=bydate&page=5&key=&ph...

Re: Dedham Branch

Why is it impossible to find any pictures of it at all if it was used up until the late 60'?

Dedham Branch

I spent a lot of time in the West Roxbury area growing up and still get back here fairly often. My aunt has a house right off the old West Roxbury branch ROW (now all a row of houses, which is WILD). I've tracked a good majority of the ROW in my teens and it's amazing how much is left considering th...

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

Next week, May 13th - 17th, all Bartlett departures will be diverted down the Redstone Branch and down to the Saco River Bridge; these will be the first trains to go that far east. The reason for the diversion, is because the state will be redoing Rodger's crossing. How will that work? Doesn't the ...

Re: All Things Cascades incl Vancouver

I'm not saying i support buses over trains. I travel between Seattle and Vancouver 2-3 times a month and I commute back and forth between Amtrak, Greyhound and Bolt Bus. Every single train I've taken between the two and have delayed by at least 45 minutes. And again, the train times are less than id...

Re: All Things Cascades incl Vancouver

Buses are only a popular option because: 1. There's more throughout the day and the only trains that go to Vancouver either leave Seattle at 6am or arrive in Vanvouver after midnight. 2. It's cheaper. You can find, and i know from experience, $1.00 tickets from Seattle to Vancouver. 3. It's a hell o...

Re: All Things Cascades incl Vancouver

I think even on clear track and with the speed restraints Amtrak takes at least an hour just to get out of Vancouver. Is there a quicker way they could go?

Re: CSX Readville, MA

^^^^ The yard is plenty easy to see from the street and other public spots. Like the Readville platform. Idiot. Also anytime I'm in Boston/MA in general. I usually drive through the yard to check it out. Nobody cares.

Re: Remnants of the Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn

Is there anything remaining, other than the ROW itself, of the line (raild, bridges, crossings, stations) between Lynn and Wonderland? I traced the line of Googlemaps after hearing about the fire in East Boston but it's impossible to see any of the details.

Re: Sacramento Rail Yards

Here's a story y'all, When I was in sacramento a few weeks ago, I wanted to photograph the yards to the best of my ability. I began at the old SP station/current Amtrak station, walked over the bridge on 5th all the way to the trail and back to the station. Nothing. I decided to check the amtrak pla...

Re: UP in Seattle

Ok, but WHY did UP ever end up in Seattle? How did that even happen? All surrounding lines are NP, SSP, or MR. I have no idea how UP got their own yard in Seattle, why they use trackage rights to get to/from Seattle. I assume only trains come and go from Portland? And why BNSF allows them to use the...
