1) CSX generally delivers and picks up cars at the NYS&W every other day, or at least that is the plan. Of course, this is always subject to change any time. 2) Not all cars destined to the NYS&W go thru Selkirk Yard. That depends on the car trip routing. However, if they do go thru Selkirk,...

Can't answer for all of the areas but the Albany Division is dispatched out of Selkirk yard. In your area of New Jersey you probably hear the NI dispatcher (former NJ dispatcher) NI controls the Port of Albany line from CP-SK to Kenwood Yard (Canadian Pacific), River line from CP-SK all the way int...

Amtrak trains are not permitted to use the siding between CP-60 and CP-64 so they (Amtrak 449) would have to wait at CP-60.

In addition to MP 272 located along the still active O&W trackage (now NYS&W New Hartford Industrial Track) just north of the Lomond Place crossing (near U-Haul), there is a mile post marker 268 located in the Village of Clinton. It is on the site of the former Clinton passenger station at t...

Train dispatchers have 8 hours shifts. By Federal Hours of Service regulations, they can only work 9 hours in a 24 hour period and must have 15 hours off between shifts. There are no Hours of Service regulations for Chief or Assistant Chief Dispatchers. Train Dispatchers get overtime after 8 hours o...

Re: The WS trains (WS-5, 6, etc.) - how do they work?

I walked over to the train station tonight to have a look at really mint-looking '56 GMC pickup that went past my house, and as I was walking over, tonight's WS-something happened to go by. I had my camera, so I took a picture of it just before it crossed Newtown Rd. just before the Wortendyke Stat...

CSX had radio bases at Beacon Park, Framingham and Worcester along the commuter rail route. Paxton covered a lot of the NA Dispatching territory. Even if Paxton went down, the other bases still worked. Paxton is still in service for CSX as is Worcester and Framingham. Not sure about Beacon Park.

On Monday, Aug 12, 2013, the NA Dispatcher position was abolished and all territory previously controlled by the NA Dispatcher was transferred to the NB Dispatcher. The NB Dispatcher now controls the Boston Subdivision (CP45 inclusive) to CP92 (exclusive), the Berkshire Subdivision (CP92 inclusive) ...

How is the on time performance now that MBCR has taken over the dispatching of the Worcester Line?

This morning, 3/3/11, I saw the following car on the edge of the West Springfield Railroad yard. I thought it was interesting and it caught my eye because of how narrow it is. The width of the body is about the gage of the track. There are several plows between the trucks and this perhaps indicate ...

Surfacing gang working. 25 mph by the equipment. Working their way west.

Amtrak took over the dispatching from Cove (east of Back Bay station) to, but not including CP-3 (east end of Beacon Park) on 4/2/12. A new commuter rail schedule also went into effect that eliminates all train meets between Cove and CP-4 in preparation for upcoming single track operations between C...

Next question. Does anyone know if the rail service continued right up until the plant closed in 1985 or if the railroad helped with the remival of materials during the demolition of the complex in 2002? Thanks. One of the overhead cranes that was at the Bossert plant was loaded on flat cars on the...

Earle, I have an original copy of the Delaware Otsego System employee timetable dated Jan 1, 1977. It was professionally printed and has a yellow paper cover. I also have a copy of the same timetable photo copied with an additional section photocopied and stapled to it. This section says: SUPPLEMENT...
