I know Greg and I know he wouldn't be acting stupid or trespassing on any sort of RR property. There are plenty of good police officers out there and then we have the zealous ones who make it bad for other cops because they think they can do anything they want because they're above the normal class ...

Over the years I've been noticing the norm is for splitting up the line. Poughkeepsie trains express to Harmon then locals and semi-expresses south of there. Now with the new schedule just about every Poughkeepsie train now has to stop in Tarrytown and Ossining on the weekends, even the hikers ones...

Metro-North detailed ridership stats

I remember there was a PDF posted here showing stats for each train run and what equipment gets assigned to each run (normally). Thought I saved it on my computer, but I couldn't find the file. Maybe someone else has it here and can re-post it? I searched on the forums and google to no avail. I have...

This is where it is? Very interesting! I hope Metro-North doesn't start putting up no trespassing signs now!

I say reopen the old Erie main thru Monroe, Chester, and Goshen, ala ML/BCL north, Orange County style. (yup, a pipe dream.) K I agree! This is how the line should have been. Going through the population centers of the county. Those areas would benfit greatly from having train service. Think of Col...

MTASUPT would probably have the most information (if any) about this subject. I'm not sure how feasible it is but I know that Orange County has grown a lot in population for some time now. The Port Jervis line needs two things for it to be successful. 1. Double tracking throughout the line. 2. Much...

They will be. Double tracking needs to happen for the line to be useful.

My thought was it wouldn't be too big a jump for Metro-North to operate Genesis-powered trains into NYP from the Hudson Line and continue them onto the NH Line. Maybe stopping at the Bronx stations plus New Rochelle, Port Chester, Stamford and on to New Haven. That is never gonna happen, the diesel...

Logic in a regular weekday schedule 12/26

Any insight into what the logic was having a regular weekday schedule today and peak fares in effect!?

I would imagine most of the peak trains this morning were barely even half full.

Maybe the Governor is only one sane, what programs should be cut to build a bridge. The state is broke, yet no one believes it, the taxpayers expect the government to keep spending $$$$ like drunken sailors. It's one thing to spent money on waste and even more studies and another to improve the QOL...

A new Tappan Zee Bridge must contain mass transit options, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said Thursday. A four-page memorandum from the Astorino administration to the state Department of Transportation said that a bridge without any mass transit component — such as rail and bus rapid tr...

The only thing is, you'd need something to go between the carpool lanes and regular lanes so you don't have people trying to cut back and forth into the stopped traffic of the regular lanes... that would block up the bus/carpool lane pretty quickly. thing is, I would have it as a peak only HOV lane...

The River line aka "west shore line" as it was for conrail, is one of the most vital lines for CSX, I seriously doubt they'll ever want to have passenger rail on that line. + with the traffic on the line it will need to be double track...maybe even triple track (if there is even room for ...

The PJ Line needs to be double track already! Metro-North is going to have a task ahead of them from getting the ex train riders to Shortline back on the rails again. Don't forget the bus is cheaper and all the park and ride lots are free compared to Metro-North. I know some people who never though ...
