Re: SD35 dimension between mid axles on trucks ?

Thanks Allen, yeah it's looking like they coincide. And at least with the SD35 the drawings align with what broadside images show.

Worth being careful of some of those PRR images tho. Check out the X58 boxcar diagrams ;-)

SD35 dimension between mid axles on trucks ?

 by Scaro ¦  Sun Mar 03, 2019 3:58 am ¦  Forum: EMD - Electro-Motive (Progress Rail, General Motors) ¦  Topic: SD35 dimension between mid axles on trucks ? ¦  Replies: 5 ¦  Views: 4034

I read a figure of 35' on most diagrams, but some say that measurement is between the bolsters, others say it is between truck centres.

As these two are not necessarily the same, I wanted to check before hacking up a chassis to build one. (none available in my scale.)

L&HR 1900 class covered hoppers

Hi

I am wondering if anyone can point me to an online image or diagram of the L&HR's 1900 class covered hoppers, which I believe were built for them by the Reading and were apparently something like a RDG LOa class hopper but of lower capacity.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Walter

There is a decent side pic of the Budds in the Krause & Crist book and I think a top shot of the cars being delivered. At least as I recall.

I'm after a good plan or diagram too, if you manage to turn one up.

Cheers

I think in the 1960s, the Squeak leased a couple of Stillwells from what was probably by that time the E-L, for commuter trains. There's a pic on the Maywood station site.

This was long after the road had stopped operating its own Stillwells.

thanks. CNJ actually kept a lot of RS3s around till late and even got some secondhand leased units in either the late 60s or 70s, so i imagine if they had a use for the RSD4s they probably would have retained them. possibly once CNJ pulled out of PA there was no work for them.

thanks. i've not been able to dig up a map of their east end connections in the pre-DO era - but i assume there wasn't one with CNJ if they would have delivered the unit via the W&N. apart from the baldwins and pairs of F7s, did anything else work the W&N job?

i just like blue C420s in that scheme, and the RS3s weren't bad looking either ... pretty minimal on the rolling stock front though, excepting a bunch of small covered hoppers. are any plans out there? http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/lhr/lhr2015akg.jpg i also like the potential ... a small layout or d...

hi i am trying to work out which CNJ units worked to green pond junction. i know that baldwin DR-44-15s were common (although not sure when they gave up the ghost) and i've seen shots of N&W F7s and perhaps B&O (?) F7s at hopatcong jcn so i assume that they would have made it there as well. ...

Hi The Krause and Crist book reports that these coaches were sold to Saudi Arabia, and I think this happened around 1960. That is probably why no-one is modelling them - they vanished from the scene very early. I would not envy anyone riding them in Saudi Arabia if they had no air-con. I would be in...
