I believe there's a ten-year lock-in for RRB. You are vested in 5 years for RRB. It used to be 10 years but it was changed to 5. There is no 'double dipping' with SSI and RRB - you will get one or the other when you retire. If memory serves, and it may not, up until Reagan changed the IRS laws arou...

I bought a couple of Funaro and Camerlengo ping pong coaches. They don't come with trucks. I've sent several emails to them asking what truck they recommend and have not received an answer. I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me.

Thank You,

Ether is used quite often on cold engines. I've done it many times. Never used more than about 1/4 can sprayed in a hand hole on each side of the engine, close the covers and crank it, lots of knocking and black smoke as it starts. Total 1/2 can used. Have also sprayed it in the air filters and let ...

ok, I went back and pulled out one of my copies of Seth Bramsons book "Speedway to Sunshine" as this got my curiosity going. The old K-branch did go to Lake harbor from New Smyrna Bch and what is left of it is part of the current K-branch. In 1944 the FEC applied to the ICC to abandon 136 ...

That would be Fort Pierce on the K-branch. The closest exit on the turnpike would be exit 152 Route 70/Virginia Ave. The turnpike crosses Glades Cutoff road and the FEC there. You are incorrect. The "K" branch is the old non existant Kissimmee Valley branch which ran SW out of New Smyrna ...

PS, yes it is near a Cemex plant. It is on Midway Rd. just west of the Turnpike. It is the one we call Rinker West. Rinker ...

As no rule g wrote Alco went out of business in 1969 so all that was left was EMD and GE and at that time EMD was the most popular locomotive. And GE didn't have a switcher type loco like the SW's or MP's.

The FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) requires that every locomotive in North America has a designated "F" (Front) end. If you look closely at any locomotive you see, including multiple unit electric cars, you'll see an "F" on a metal plate or painted on. On double ended loc...

A couple of FYI's. GP40-2 402 was wrecked and usable parts were traded to EMD. 424 is a new loco, however the trucks may have been used (FEC traded GP9's on their GP40-2's and the trucks were re-used - that is why FEC GP40-2's and GP38-2's do NOT have Blomberg M trucks). -- John Sykes The first FEC...

I can see where an operable steam engine on a trailer could be useful for the museum. I can picture it being set up at malls and events around the Island as advertising/publicity for the museum. Granted it isn't originally from the island, but most of the public probably couldn't care less. They wou...

The 701 was scrapped on scene and the 104 should be back running before too long. No longer with RA on the sides, but with Florida East Coast on the sides.
