The cars were upgrades of older equipment, bigger windows, AC, and more skirting to provide a more modern appearance. They also received the 2 tone green paint with the lighter shade on the window band

New diesel at Strasburg

Strasburg RR has bought a new diesel, an EMD SW-8 formerly of the Lewisburg and Buffalo Creek. It was sitting in their engine house yesterday and is reportedly in good shape mechanically. This should relegate the 44 tonner to a semi-retired status.

I have no pictures but can confirm based on sources that are local to the area. They currently have the RS-3m, C-420, and a new to them RS-11 running.

Last time I was up there the roundhouse and shop building were still up. The turntable is now owned by the Strasburg Rail Road and is in Strasburg. There is no active rail in Pen Argyl.

21 was just scrapped within the last week or so. I think may still have one S-2 left but can not confirm.

Reading Tech has a former GBW C424, nee RDG. Still in GBW paint for the most part and was or is still operable.

Just a quick correction, the 151 would need a 539, not a 251. While the 251 is still made the 539 is not.

Both the PRR-LV and the Reading provided ore to the mill. Not sure how it got unloaded. I believe most of the ore to Beth Steel came from South America.
