LIRR never had F40PH's so finding one on a fantasy page means nothing , the F40PH would be to high for to much LIRR territory.

few problems with that federal certification of both crews and equipment , and union agreements prohibiting such.

containers from west coast ship on double stacks , its not cost effective to run them on a single level fleet just for long island . so were talking transferring , it would be more cost effective to put it on container road frame and get it to customer in hour past transferring than to transfer to s...

any freight at night would only impede track maintenance , its just not worth it.

to many freight cars that will not fit under the catenary in NY Penn max car height is 14' 7" it will leave out just about every box car, any bulkhead flats for lumber etc etc .

unless its small palatalized stuff it would violate agreements with freight railroads.

Whole conversation of freight in NYP and its tunnels is kind of moot, there is hardly any cars left that can fit under much lower catenary in the complex. and even well cars used as single level container car may interfere with third rail. add to that that containers in such well cars are useless to...
