I don’t know if this would be the thread for this. Just looking for some guidance or insight. Are Railroads required to inform employees that they are removing a signal on operating territory where work is routinely done. It sounds like an obvious response. But looking for clarification if anyone co...

The reason the railroad was shut down is because it is a crime scene. The police and other agencies have to conduct investigations that involve walking across the tracks. Also without going into details and getting too explicit the coroner and police have to find everything....

This is a real touchy subject to get involved in but kids will be kids. My biggest fear is hitting a child. As much as parents tell there kids to stay away from tracks or teach their kids about trains they still will not listen. As a child, my father, who was an engineer, could not express to me the...

Its amazing if you think about how many railroads actually have came through Washington Terminal and Ivy City over its time. At least 20 I can think of off hand. The employees in Washington Terminal are actually still governed by old WTC agreements. I dont know for how much longer but they still are...

Hey everybody. I have been hearing rumors recently that once the east side access tunnels are completed in a couple of years. MTA is going to try and merge its current operations together(Metro North and LIRR) And then try and purchase part of if not most of the NEC from Amtrak. So basically it would...

Just an FYI. I was wondering what type of repercussians could occur if LIRR or Amtrak sent in a diesel engine for rescues or were caught using diesels in the tunnels and inside the NYP station overbuild. Would this be a NYS law or FRA mandate that would be broken?

All the Regional's should express through N. Philly and Cornwell. But since the Keystone serves mostly Pennsylvanians, and is subsidized by the state, most (if not all) Keystones should stop at CH and N. Phil. I'm sure this argument will come up again in five years when MARC begins service to Elkto...

I dont want to say this will never happen. But not anytime soon. What would be the benefit of the train tunnel for the city? And from where Bay Ridge or Manhattan?

Wow.. never thought I would see these up here. These are Washington D.C metro cars.I know this might be off topic but the metro only uses Engineers to run and open doors. Does this mean they might phase out the last of the conductors as well? Just wondering?

Does anyone know if Delaware car Company just outside of Wilmington station still refurbishes some of Amtrak's equipment. I went by there the other day and saw 2 Amfleet scrap cars on the shop lead.
