Glad to hear the Miracle Run Branch is part of the deal. Conrail hasn't run over it since the early 2000's I believe. Would be really cool if Schundler were to get cars again. And Heller Park now may see more service again. What's good is that most or all the tracks and sidings are still in place s...

Wow! This came a bit out of left field. So my understanding in reading the document is that RCRY is further taking over operations in Metuchen - but what change will this really cause operationally? Other than the various consignees located along the NEC, what traffic is flowing into Metuchen these ...

West through Highland Park today about 3 pm with a bracket of about 5 boxcars, 5 covered hoppers, and 5 more boxcars. Some days they operate with two engines, other days just one and the caboose - not sure as to the rhyme or reason as I don't follow as closely as I used to. Train size can vary, but ...

If Mr. Hutchinson is referring to what I believe he is - Durham siding is located on the Port Reading Secondary in South Plainfield near Helen Street. I haven't seen this myself, but I would take Mr. Hutchinson's word for it.

Moderators note: Moved this thread to the New Jersey Railfan forum as it is higher trafficked and more likely to be answered.

I would also be interested to know "whats up".

I believe the location you have for your photo is wrong. I believe your photo was taken further south near Sandford street, possibly in Joyce Kilmer Park. It definitely not on Seaman Street. I believe the building visible in the right background is what is now the New Brunswick Adult Learning Center...

I'm a bit confused by your question? I'm 99% sure the Northeast Corridor in the area of Handy Street was elevated during the track elevation project the Pennsy undertook in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in conjunction with the building of the Raritan River Bridge. In addition, elevation con...

In addition, does the Wenner Bakery that is now open on Jersey Ave just North of the Millstone IT, receive cars? It was said in a news article when it was being built that they would make use of a rail spur.

A quick report on today's ME-2. ... There are a lot of covered hoppers in there! I had to leave shortly after that, but I heard on the radio that they also had work on the Millstone. Busy day... Rob Missed the head end, but caught the tail end of todays train returning to Metuchen. Was told 20 cars...

Just some observations: - A little while back, PPD requested an EOD K9 to the scene and car counts (presumably for the freight cars in the yard next to the derailment) - Video that MSNBC is showing what looks like an old PRR cat pole that was ripped out of the ground and completely twisted. They als...

Philly Police - Citywide
Philly Fire - North

Are there any rail feeds for the area?

I have been posting on this forum for 15 years now (since the original incarnation). I concur that no one should take a site outage so harshly, but I also share the concern that RR.net may be "ignored". One question - if the site owner is a one "Evan Briton", then who is Jeff Smi...

How do trains stop there now? Single track? With Brakes? I'm pretty sure a single track would cause a derailment  Seriously though - there are currently both east and westbound tracks and associated platforms. The main station building (westbound) has been a restaurant for years, and the east...

Quick report from the field. OI-8 was westbound by North Elizabeth at 12:04pm heading for Metuchen. Power is CSXT 8886 and NS 3376. Nice to see an ex - EL SD45-2 in the lead. Rob Another update from the field - ME-2 was west through Highland Park with the NS 5313, 5 or 6 covered hoppers and the cab...

I work up that way from time to time, and the large industry right on Main Street has small signs saying SWM, for Spotswood Mill. I believe it used to be a Kimberly-Clark facility; no idea what they make there, though. Who says the Tobacco Industry is necessarily all bad? That is the Schweitzer Mau...
