1949 was when the elevated lines in Hoboken were discontinued. Photos show overhead wire over those surviving street tracks in the 1930's but there doesn't appear to have been regular service near the end. I've got #204 in black with diagonal yellow end stripes and a steam locomotive type bell on the long hood.

Railroad Cafe on Union Avenue East Rutherford that is directly across tracks from NJT Rutherford Station. Lots of rail photos inside, and G scale running overhead.
Sit outside on patio at rushhour for lots of horn blowing, and steady parade of planes approaching Teterboro.
