Re: Current F40PH status-- End of an era?

4119 and 4120 are still in service. They are in the MMC right now for a periodic inspection. Once that's completed they will likely return to non-revenue service although I do not believe they are restricted from revenue service if needed. As to the rest of the NJT F40s, 4 others remain in service h...

Re: Delaware and Raritan River Railroad-General Discussion

Good and close sources have informed and convinced me that the sand trains will be ready to run once the rail segment from Lakewood to Lakehurst is cleared. Then NJSL will begin to operate. Their equipment, which has been acquired, will be able to move the 13 miles from Lakehurst to Woodmansie. Tha...

I hope that you all had fun out there today. To those who think its ok to sit on signal boxes or encroach on the crossings, that's not your property and being so close to the train is dangerous. Please stay clear of the tracks and let us work safely. You don't need to be up against the train to tak...

I could call out specific people/posters here, but no need, you all know who you are. Many years ago, this website had a number of railroaders who were frequent contributors. We shared information, insight, and our thoughts. Over the years, the number of us who do so regularly has dwindled significa...

Yes, the schedules are out there. That being said, it's not something that we really want to be publicly available for a number of reasons I'm not going to discuss. Regarding the specific questions in this thread: Where I start from can play a large role in how many trips I make in a day, but genera...

I think I know the answers to these questions, but I would like confirmation/additional information. 1. Does phase gap between 25Hz and 60Hz catenary require lowering of the pantograph or slowing down? Assume same voltage to ground. 1a. Can transformers made for 25Hz handle 60Hz without modificatio...

This situation has exactly nothing to do with engineers exercising their contractual right to 48 hours to select a new assignment when theirs is changed or they are displaced by a senior engineer. This has everything to do with the total failure by NJT to properly staff their railroad. Even before t...

One other oddity: I was ahead of schedule and due to the ongoing tunnel issues, decided that just moving was the best option. So was at Secaucus about 30 minutes ahead of the planned arrival, saw that there was a Dover train in about 20 minutes, and decided to take that to Summit and wait for the G...

NJT is not Amtrak. The agreement between the two, along with the laws that created both carriers, preclude NJT from operating inter-city service.

Big whoop. Maybe we can toss the speeder run in as well.

The line is a joke.
Careful. Only "crybabies" don't blindly support Tony without question.

Most westbound trains will get an Approach at CP East Gladstone (CP because it is only controlled signals with no switches, derails, movable bridges, etc). The Approach signal governs movement between that signal and the "END AUTO BLOCK" sign located at the eastward home signal at CP East ...

This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and I doubt it will be the last. As always, I'll happy to inform the police that my name is Ronnie Hakim (or however it's spelled) and my address in 1 Penn Plaza in Newark, and to make sure to send the ticket there.
