Does anyone know the average numbers for how much fuel is burned in a locomotive-leading train vs. cab car-leading train? Or multi-levels vs. single levels? Obviously there are significant differences in wind resistance and weight.

So... with the news of terrorists coming after railroad targets in the USA a steaming hot topic in the news, how long before a photographer gets detained or has his card deleted/film destroyed/camera confiscated or any of that other fun stuff we all remember happening in the last 10 years? I don't ...
Steve F45 wrote:King, any idea on why the 70m's haven't lead since that 1 time? If they are facing west on the 100, they spin the lead loco and put it in front of the 70m's. Do the crews not like them? Two of them didn't have radios in them when they were brought back.
How come when I ask a question here at railroad.net I get sarcastic/snarky comments? Geez, Chris, why does every museum give you snarky comments? :-) RMNE was tryin' to give you the business a few weeks back... Should any of us not in this particular loop understand any of this? I am just looking f...
When does H-02 run down to the Totowa Industrial now? I went a week or so ago around 10am from the last time I saw it (summer) and it never showed. Does it run in the afternoon now?
And when can I catch H65? That'd I'd like to give a good chase to.
I had thought 4223,4228 were on long term lease as well as C-430 16/17 and there is that C425 #?? between M&E/RRPX they have alot of motive power and parts sources. Like I said, if you check that link to RRPX's website, it appears that 4223, 4228, and the C425 have all been SOLD, not just lease...
I'm not sure how many times H-02 goes to Washington, but I think it is around 3 times per week. (Others can answer that better than I can) As far as M&M's, last I knew since they broke a rail on their siding a few years ago, they do not directly receive rail shipments. It is my understanding th...
I just hired out as a locomotive/rail car mechanic and starting in a few weeks. What tools should I bring with me to work? My boss said bring your tools with you, but that didn't really narrow it down. Can someone list them out to me? Please contact in a PM if you have advice or tips. Any info is gr...

Just heard dispatch breaking up over my radio saying H-07 is clear when they get the signal. Don't know where it is or what signal its waiting for.
Thanks guys for being so welcoming! My schedule is filled through June, so I won't be able to do anything until then. But after that, I'll have time (and a way of getting to the yard), so I'm hoping I'll be able to make my way down there. Looks like you guys have a lot of great stuff lined up, and ...
Just an aside but it kind of ties into the URHS and some of its member organizations. There is still alot of animosity between some of the main individuals in the various groups, even those outside the URHS. This has been going on for 20+ years now! Most of the people on this list probably were not...
The 436 is being leased to a railroad that will maintain and operate it, at which time the U34CH will arrive in Boonton. Our locomotives on the SMS, 438 and the B&O Baldwin are also being used and maintained (the Baldwin went there not expecting to ever have it run, which it now does). Our loco...
Do cars still get delivered to the industries to the south of the Port Jervis yard?
