Will do. If you see any cars with similar style doors we’ve been looking for replacements for a while. Lost out on salvaging at least 4 sets due to being late to the party so to speak. The side in that photo may be salvageable, but the opposite side is not. Worst case might have to have some fabrica...

It is NH 32349. Never saw ownership by a Railroad beyond the NH. It was in NH paint until some point in the 90’s when it also received roller bearings. It is safe and has some positive plans in its future. An appropriate paint job being one of them but some significant steel work is required where i...

Has anyone here actually operated an amfleet door versus a horizon one in the snow? I haven't seen any sticking issue with the horizons.

Best bet would be moved in a revenue freight, PAS to NS. MNCR and AMTK would add two extra railroads and extra crews.

If memory serves me correctly I can recall one of the people who painted it saying it was "Pepsi Cola Blue." As for the yellow I don't remember but the color of the blue always stood out in my mind.

I wonder what else Penn Central's successors own? It says that they sold GCT and 156 miles of Metro North track for 80 million in 2007 to a real estate venture group. Other searches show they attempted to sue Amtrak and are a partial share holder in the company.

There are several good points here. However the entire Springfield Line regardless of the Enfield bridge and Hartford viaduct is limited to 263,000. Special permission is required for overweight moves, i.e. transformers and such. At one time 315,000 cars were run into Hartford Yard for the non exist...

Thanks for posting this Noel, I was wondering about the West yard as it is listed still on the maps. All thats left is the lead into a company and some headroom for the Remington Spur. I've seen some pieces of turnouts remaining on the east end as well. Very informative.

I have noticed an abandoned ROW near the South Norwalk train station, and in asking around have found out a spur broke off there and went out a couple of miles. Appears the switch would have been where the current high level platform is on the south side. Does anybody have more info on this? Where'd...

Ron, Yes crossings on the Suffield and Bradley spurs that are stop and protect were flagged and 5 minutes fusee's were left. Those would have been Mather Rd, on both the Suffield and Bradley, Suffield St on the Bradley, Rt. 75 on the Suffield (on the section in question). All other crossings were pr...

The bridge was repaired some years ago and they recieved cars up until about the summer of 2008, regardless of what the filing says. I spotted one of the last cars, if not the last car up there before Stevenson/Laureno went out of business.I didn't make the last trip over this section though because...

How about their "Flanger" signs at crossings or switches which the upright portions were made out of recycled boiler tubes. Same with the signs that marked culverts and bridges that were shaped like a pizza paddle. Their style of wooden freight houses was pretty common as well.
