Re: "Power To Spare" MA&N Alcos (video)

No track has been ripped up. However I don't believe there is any business on that section.

Re: Unknown NYC depot ID, please

I thought perhaps Hartlot but it appears to be a few feet wider and from this angle there would be some buildings to the right, and no crossing in front of it.

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

At the present time the only way for CN to connect to NYSW would be for CSX to grant permission for CN to get to Belle Isle,cp293, and use the crossovers there to get on the NYSW. Belle Isle is CP-296. To run in from the 293 side would require a run-around move there, either using the main and the ...

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

When built, the RW&O line went all the way downtown and connected to the NYC below Franklin Square, the mileposts start from there. It followed North Clinton St. and connection curved west across N. Franklin St.; the original New Process Gear was served from it. This was a heavily industrial area un...

Re: Delaware & Ulster Railroad (DURR) Discussion

Presumably they'll run to Highmount when they have the two MU-able locomotives to run with.

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

That was a rumor and didn't happen. I don't see NYS&W picking up any traffic.

At the time I had a look and there was no connection.

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

IIRC the hot rumor for a while is that NYS&W would get the lines north. That would have let CSX retain a stake in them without having to operate them. But, with the NYS&W getting them traffic could then be routed via Binghamton to Little Ferry and CSX gets none of it. (I'm aware they'd have to run a...

Re: Could it be 3 miles long?

Conrail used to have temperature car handling protocols, when it got below a certain temperature they limited the number of cars, usually when it was 10' or below.

DPUs may alleviate the need for that though.

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

I can't imagine them swapping trains at Woodard, I would expect they'll run to Dewitt like they do now, especially if there's traffic to be dropped there. Why change what works? The crews will likely be mostly CSX hire-overs anyways.

What they probably won't allow is CN and NYS&W to connect.

Re: Falls Road

Amazing how virtually all of that is gone.

Why does it look like there's two stations in Brockport? The large one a freight station only?

Re: Trains on CSX St. Lawrence Sub (CR's Montreal Secondary)

Soundbound down this morning with a CN unit trailing, kind of an unusual one, GP40-2W 9544. 4-axle power was never common on these run-throughs and CN has sold off quite a few of these units now.

Re: 2019 Fall Train Show Listing

No sooner than I do this then I see on Facebook a post from the Western NY Model Railroad Engineers with their fall schedule posted and it has some of the dates missing above, plus I always manage to forget the fall Train-O-Rama somehow. Too many shows in Buffalo. So per their info here's the missin...

Re: 2019 Fall Train Show Listing

Yeah, it's odd because of the way the weekends work out, but GTE has always been first Sunday in December no matter what. Technically the Polish Home show along with the Hamburg and Binghamton shows are a week later than usual - but yet they're not, there's an extra weekend before Thanksgiving that'...
