Uh... ...ain't NO way...NO how....NO body...is gettin' NO money....to "rebuild" NO PENNSY from Newark to Phelps. ....God Almighty... I suppose FGLK is putting in CTC somewhere too. What a bunch of krapolla.... And I just finished up being the Superintendent of Rules there, so let's put tha...
I can't believe what I heard today. A few dedicated volunteers at the williamsville depot placed four more sections of rail and ties. These connected onto the exsisting track where the restored lehigh valley caboose is. They want to eventually bring in a lehigh valley switcher as a static display w...
Make sure you bring the good camera to get shots of the crew....
What? E8's? Have you ever ran covered wagons before? Try switching with them.....
The new engines are part of a lease deal with the Delaware & Ulster....buy-back at $100/year for 300 years.
Plus fuel....
I love this site.
I can confirm your rumor about the garbage...they've only been working on it now 7 years or more... That was one of the reasons for my visit up there....they'd have to have enough space to either Mi-Jack or otherwise unload containers and turn them around between tracks....access to the highway is e...
Last I knew, yes....but there is currently nothing to run there for....NYSDOT has cut the leader into the yard for a bridge project on the 190 but the switch is still in at CSX...just a matter of getting in there and rehad work. Five of the original tracks are still in....could have used for storage...
GVT could already use it...and doesn't.
Thoughts?
I measured & photographed the remaining site in November...scalehouse & track....some of the ladders are left....a couple running tracks, the pig ramp...the leader off CSX main...the hopper area....it could be used for something if someone would get off their beeeehind. CSX ain't gonna do an...
A proposal was forwarded not long ago to regional leaders and private investors to make the yard a multi-modal facility, for transload, C&D processing, tie processing, and scrap....with money behind it....
Proposal has gone largely unattended. A shame.
SW9 has been reportedly for sale.
What a shame. I don't understand FGLK looking for 636's when what they need is right there on the RIP track....636's aren't gonna werk to switch Guardian or Seneca foods...seems that SW9 would be perfect...
No Matt, YOU are on the right track....it's Scharnhorst who's seeing things....but that's not unusual...
2305 is up on the Hudson....2307 has been on home rails for some time, and will be the first traded for the 636's......so they say, anyways.
Stick with the story, man!
To dispell any further rumors.....FGLK 2307 couldn't pull herself our of a wet paper bag right now, let alone be jaunting back and forth from Albany to Geneva for no reason....you are thinking of 2305. Furthermore, the steam comment is awesome....4-man RCO operations in Solvay with an 0-8-0.....righ...
I was just talking with a FGLK employee who works in the shop and is close to all the technical aspects and HE said that the GE's are being worked on so heavily because the railroad is looking for ALCO six-axle units....hopefully some MILW 636's...and are probably going to be traded in....the freigh...
