Hamptons Reserve Service Questions

I am contemplating booking a Hamptons Reserve ticket for the Cannonball East just to try it out and have a few questions that I was hoping someone would know the answers to. I understand that Seasonal Reservations are sold out, but Weekly Reservations appear to still be bookable. What I can't find a...

There are a few Transit employees on this board so you never know!

I don't know exactly when it returned, but I checked today and all five trains, including the 6:06 AM from Lake Hopatcong is showing up again (both in the current schedule and the 6/4 PTC schedule). Sounds like someone at NJ Transit finally realized it was missing.

I'll chalk it up to a website issue in that case. You'd think with only five eastbound trains in the morning, they would be careful to actually advertise all five!

I have not physically seen it, but it still shows up on DepartureVision for what it's worth. It is also not on the cancellation list and I haven't seen any alerts that it is cancelled.

Train Missing From Website/App Schedule

I was looking at schedules when I noticed an oddity. Train 1000 (the 6:06 AM from Lake Hopatcong to Hoboken) appears to be missing from both the website and the app when looking at schedules. As far as I know, this train has not been cancelled and appears in the PDF timetable, both the current and t...

I would think it would have more of an impact on PATH service from Hoboken to 33rd Street, although it should be minimal. The ferry is more expensive than the PATH and unless you work right on the west side waterfront, takes longer (the ferry ride itself may only be 8 minutes but taking the ferry bu...

My thought was that they could keep the zone system or some other type of distance-based fare for the long distance suburban routes (NJ - NYC, NJ - Philadelphia, Jersey Shore/Atlantic City/Mountain Creek/Six Flags, etc.) runs but eliminate them for the local city routes. The short distance zone fare...

In my opinion, the bus fare system is inefficient and very confusing, especially to new riders. I would eliminate the zone system completely and charge a flat rate for intrastate buses as almost every other public bus system I have ever been on does. Then, either eliminate transfers completely or ma...

I had the chance to try this the other day on a 1-zone trip on the 705 bus. The bus driver does not have any type of scanner, they just look at the activated ticket when boarding, exactly as conductors on trains do. Unfortunately, what they did for buses is set the ticket expiration to 30 minutes (r...

I don't disagree. I find the transfer system, as well as the zone system itself silly. I could maybe justify the zone system for long distance, suburb-to-city routes, but not for local city buses.

I haven't used the app to pay a bus fare yet, but will try it and see if they actually scan the phone with anything or just look at it to make sure the ticket is active. In my experience of using this on interstate buses, the drivers just glanced at the ticket to make sure it was active and did not ...

Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case in the app. It forces you to select a specific bus route and the number of zones you are travelling on that particular route. The way it works when using cash is you request the driver to sell you "x zones with a transfer". The transfer co...

It looks like the MyTix (now called the "NJ TRANSIT Mobile App") has been updated. They finally support one-way tickets on intrastate buses (they have been on interstate bus trips for quite some time). The interface has been completely overhauled and it is a lot smoother than the old versi...

That's a crazy one CentralValleyRail. You think after all these years of tweaking the system, they would have fares figured out so that they are rational.
