Re: NS 8520

The engine control system on the AC44C6CF and the Dash 8.5 are made by TMV Control Systems which has a field office in Corsica, PA, which is about 25 northeast of Pittsburgh. I'm sure they want to see what their product is doing. Both locomotives should be mechanically similar if not identical with ...

Re: NS 8520

A search of sites reveals no private posts of NS 8520. Something will emerge eventually in the main.

Until then, is there any word on the performance of the AC44C6CF and Dash 8.5?

Re: B-B unit sales

My thought was a B1-1B arrangement with the steerable truck and negating the weight shifting appurtenance.

Re: B-B unit sales

Interesting. Thank you. Was any consideration given to using the steerable truck for the C4 program? Is that even feasible?

I find it more interesting that in the eight years of this debacle Siemens built and delivered 20 coaches to Florida and booked an order for over 130 more.

Re: B-B unit sales

The B1-1B motor arrangement has superior weight shift and lower truck assembly yaw inertia when the motors are in the same orientation as they are in all high traction trucks designs. This arrangement was first used by EMD on the GT46PAC's for India. For the SD70ACe-P4, the axle loads were adjusted...

Re: Brightline fka All Aboard Florida Orlando - Miami FL FEC

The ROW along the Beechline Expressway has been and will continue to be owned by the State. The track will be the property of the builder. Between Cocoa and Miami AAF and its parents will not build anymore capacity than is necessary for FEC's and Brightline's purposes.

Re: Amtrak's Standing in Congress is Different Today

One change that is little noted is that Amtrak was never meant to succeed. When some rail CEO's complained about it, President Nixon assured them that Amtrak wouldn't last two years. Southern Pacific President Ben Biaggini in an interview with US News and World report stated that Amtrak's main job ...
