I hear ya about the older power, but for me it's got to chug! Love the sound of a 251. In my world I still see the Alco's running.

The blue grey Geep is a former BAR unit that came with the other BAR units including the 23. It's been in various places on the M&E since it arrived. The Maine Eastern 764 is a former Amtrak unit. However, the real big news is the two freshly painted GP-15-1s that just arrived on the property. C...
Try the "Alco Locomotive Operators" Facebook page. They will be all over this.

I'm not sure of the circumstances, but someone posted a BNSF train in Joliet on Rail Pictures just a few days ago. There was a former Santa Fe wide vision caboose on the rear, at least I thought it was the rear. The photo was by Nick Hart.

No worries Joseph, we're all railfans here and that's what matters.

Hi Joseph
Although this is a question for the Morristown and Erie forum, the answer is yes, they are still an on-line customer of the M&E.

Hi I visited Riverside on Friday 10 October 1980. I have slides of some of the static displays but shot super8 film of the returning train as it arrived. Although I haven't seen my footage in years I'm fairly sure 1246 came in tender first by itself. I have a VHS copy of it, which is just as inconve...
Thanks guys for all the great info. I don't have much to add, but the comment on the Rhodesian Railways DE2 class made me look at our own NZR Df class from 1954. They were very similar and rather unsuccessful. An additional order for 21 of the 1500hp double engined and double ended units from Englis...
More valuable research material. Many thanks again for your continued effort to detail these awesome machines.

Can't mistake a C-430. Check out this link, scroll down a bit to find the photo of 433 on type "B" trucks.

Hi I'm probably not quite up to date myself, but from 12,000 miles away, I'll try to answer. Only one of the B&A Geeps has been painted and put in service, #23 is at Bayway. Judging by the oil stains visible on the hood in a couple of photos, all is not well with the 23. Maybe this is what promp...
It was interesting seeing a photo of freshly painted 433 sitting outside the Lakeville engine house, on type "B" trucks.

Thanks for the great info. I met a guy at the Christchurch Trainshow last year who has access to the NZR archives, and he is keeping an eye out for Alco tender documents for me. A DL-531 would have been a better option than the Dj class, and would likely still be with us in reasonable numbers. Cheer...
Great info. Thanks. I've been looking for information on any tenders Alco may have prepared for potential sale to New Zealand Railways. NZR started buying large numbers of G-12s in 1955. Being an Alco fan I'd like to know what an alternative history may have looked like. I model N-scale and would li...
