Re: Grenada Railroad / Grenada Railway (GRYR)

i'm on this property, at the moment. the line is being rehabbed, new ties in the sidings, on the mainline, brush cutting over the entire railroad, and bridge rehabs in the works. the owners are promising a 40 mph railroad, between memphis and grenada, before the end of the year. the slow orders are ...

IOWA NORTHERN HIRING CONDUCTORS & MECHANICS

Hey guys, my friends at the IANR are looking for about a half a dozen conductors. No previous railroad experience required, but will help fast-track you to the seat, if you wish. A hiring bonus and relocation assistance is available, for this 24/7, 365 operation. I have worked for them multiple time...

Re: Lehigh Valley's GP9s

de-rating the locos didn't have to be an actual, physical act. the motive power dept could easily de-rate a loco on paper, without making any changes to the actual locos. crews determine how much tonnage they can operate, by using the printed ratings for their locomotives. if the timetable says you ...

Re: SunRail "sort of" gets a new loco...

108 is sitting dead alongside the mainline at the VSMF. besides a crushed nose, the HEP was ripped from it's motor mounts, damage to the radiators, and a lot of damage internally, not visible from the ground. the truckers insurance is responsible for the damage, and they are fighting to not pay. the...

Re: SunRail Ridership

not sure that the "negative press" is any big secret. the orlando paper regularly covers the sunrail scene. at the last reporting time (waiting to see the fiscal report for the present year) it was costing the taxpayers about $38.00 spent for every dollar taken in. we're pretty sure we have the high...

SunRail "sort of" gets a new loco...

arriving sunday night at rands yard, the newest sunrail loco was set out at rands. loco 110 is the last of the MP32PH-Q ordered. it has been related that no more can be built, do to lack of donor cabs. the loco isn't being delivered, literally to the opposite side of the fence, that separates rands ...

Re: SunRail Ridership

So what's it like working for Sunrail? Retired from up north, looking for something part time, conductor sounds like it would be fun. there are no "part-time" jobs at sunrail. without current certification, getting into the place as a t&e employee would be virtually impossible. ridership still cont...

Re: SunRail Ridership

The Xerox contract, ticket sales and associated costs are about $1.3 million a year. This number surpasses the approximate $1.1 million dollars in actual ticket revenues collected. So yes, it actually costs more to sell the tickets, than the tickets themselves bring in. We wonder if the Counties can...

Re: Grade Crossings - the real tragedy in railroading

There's been a lot of chatter about the 188 incident recently. I, too, mourn the loss of 8 people and the uncertainty caused by this accident. But let me tell a far more troubling story. 244 people died in 2015. That's about 2 188-style incidents per month. Why don't they do something about this? i...
