What does CSX call the Pam Am line out of Rotterdam Jct? What subdivision is it? The junction is off Selkirk sub, not Hudson or Mohawk, correct?
That used to be "The Little Engine That Could" that toured the country for a couple years in the mid-2000's. I don't know the story of how it ended up at GSMR though.

I wrote my letter a few weeks ago. I concentrated on the fact that the corridor, including the rails and ties, is listed on the National Register and converting segments to trail-only is an 'adverse impact' per section 106 of the federal historic preservation law.
The hopper was loaded, rolled down a 2% grade, reached about 40 mph. Not much time to react once it entered the yards.
Re. CP90 derailment: My wife was in the area and asked some of the onlookers what happened. Word is the train was northbound on the Main, overshot a stop signal at CP90, then backed up through the switch turned for the siding, splitting the switch.
