Track laying has begun south of Rt 475. Right of way clearing has been done to just south of Pogue, about 2 & 1/2 miles. Rt 475 crossing is still not open and probably won't be worked on until school is out to avoid interfering with school bus routes.

The Chicago to Carbondale train has been operating with a Sightseer Lounge care as a "count filler" for the past several weeks. Don't they have some old bags they can use instead? Seems like a big waster of equipment.

Charlottesville is also missed. Home of UVA and probably generates more ridership than Danville. Other than that, I agree with you.

I rode round trip on Brightline from Orlando to Miami. Everything was great except for the seats. The back does not recline at all. The seat itself only moves forward a couple of inches. Three hours in those seats is all I could take. I hope they don't use them in the new long distance cars.

With regards to the LIRR conversion of their permanent crossover frogs to the swing nose frogs, I came across this Old Saybrook, CT photo of an early switching frog dating back to 1909. I'm sure it was manually controlled, but it looks like the concept is not a current one. Can anyone comment on th...

I went to college in SD many moons ago. Trust me, there are very few rail lines in SD that could support passenger trains without a total rebuild. The two major exceptions are the BNSF in the far southwestern corner of the state which was the last passenger route in that state and only passes throug...

That’s odd. My copy of the NJ Drivers manual says the crossbuck is equal to a stop sign. Did they change it? Yes, they did change the Federal rule. Crossbucks used to have a stop sign, but it was silly to have to stop when there was no train around and most people ignored it, causing problems when ...

Is it not possible to use CPKC all the way to Montreal? There must be a way to switch back to CN somewhere near the Central station.
