When the Alton was taken over by the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio in 1947, the Santa Fe offered tp take the Kansas City-St. Louis route, the GM&O was willing, but the offer met with a lot of opposition, so this never happened.

There was a stop in Merrimack but not at the start of service. There were quite a few requests for a Merrimack stop and it was worked in.

When I was at the B&M it was East Cambridge. Earlier, when vessels headed up the, Millers River, filled in over the years in stages, by the B&M - between the tracks and the trolley viaduct, Cambridgeport. The area behind Tower A was Yard 13.

No. After the end of through passenger service, ABS and one main track were retired between Reading and Wilmington Junction. A local worked out of Lawrence down to Melrose or where ever. November 1961 Official Guide has 10/29/61 NYC timetable and a southbound train had a conditional stop there. I have other later Guides, but I can't go looking for them now. So, after 1961 anyway.

Service to Haverhill was restored in 1979. The service was pretty limited at first, I think 4 or so M-F round trips. I'd have to dig out some timetables to see if they continued the Winchester routing or ran the Western Route all the way. It wasn't too long before service was expanded and both route...

Local freight, southbound, passed under the Mt. Wayte Avenue Bridge in Framingham about 11:30 this morning. About 22 cars, all trash.

There are maps issued by the Port Authority under their name and issued by some of the railroads serving New York City and New Jersey. They show quite a bit of trackage, piers, mainlines, industrial branches.
