And, though Denton was supposed to be closed to traffic this past Monday, as of Wednesday it hadn't, though the new detour signs are all posted around the neighborhood.

I believe all the new platforms are at the LIRR's "standard" width of only eight feet. Compare this with Metro-North's "standard" of ten feet wide.

I hear tale told that the LIRR and M-N are BOTH under the MTA!

The third track was laid through Carle Place station before they built the temporary platform on top of it. Same at NHP and Merillon Ave.

You're quite correct here. The centerline of Montauk station is at stationing 6076+30, which is MP 115.08. The stationing numbers that are used for engineering purposes don't change over time, even with right of way realignments! What they do is create "match marks" where two different sta...

1. Home signal 1
2. That dwarf signal was 3 but it and the wye track were removed sometime in 1960, I don't know the exact date. It looks like that dwarf signal goes back to the beginning! My 1912 plan has it!

I'm not sure exactly when the "Old Southern Road" was renamed Atlantic and Springfield to Montauk. My earliest ETT is May 1921 and the deed was already done by then.

Well, they COULD rename the Atlantic Branch to Montauk Branch from Hall to Springfield Junction and Montauk Branch to Springfield Branch. That would clean up the milepost "issue" for the Montauk Branch from Valley east. I never understood why the employee timetables going back 100 years di...

Technically, the pedestrian crossing between Mineola station and Main St is still in service. It is officially wing removed from service next week.

Yes, Nassau is still with us. Not sure if the abatement work is done yet. Last I heard was “September.”

The last pic is of Willis Ave, not Main St. Main St will not cross the tracks.

I’m guessing that the Main St pedestrian crossing is NOT permanently out of service as the gates are still functioning. When Main St closed to vehicular traffic, the crossing apparatus were deactivated that weekend.

The Hicksville Secondary Track does have its third rail installed now. I’m sure it’s not energized yet as there hasn’t been a General Notice to that effect yet.
