Nope, that's a big rock, not a mattress. You can see a world of difference in the 2018 and the 2023 picture - no big rock in the 2018 picture, and the crossing surface is still there and could be traversed by a train, vs. in 2023, you see the big rock + they covered the crossing surface with concre...

Memory is hazy but I think to connect north Jersey to south Jersey a piece of track which has been taken out just south of State St in Trenton along Route 1 has to be reconnected, maybe down around where the orange cone is in the picture. https://maps.app.goo.gl/MDGeVPbrWBw7ygFw5 Jim S What looks li...

Why would this post be off-topic?? JS

Derailment with tank cars on their sides near Tremley Point in Linden

Doesn't sound like a spill, or anyone injured, fortunately. I think it is right where the Tremley Point siding comes off the Chemical Coast. Maybe a car picked a switch...

JS - The construction of a busway between the Secaucus Junction station area and the Meadowlands complex means that there will be most likely no changes to the rail infrastructure - such as electrification - of the shuttle service. Yeah, I guess that was the main point I was trying to make. And if ...

Looking at this link https://www.nj.com/news/2021/08/amid-questions-nj-transit-takes-first-steps-to-new-transitway-to-american-dream-metlife-stadium.html and more posted in this thread, it seems the NJT plan to reach 22,000) people per hour from Secaucus to MetLife stadium definitely involves buses....

On another thread in the past year which I also can't find (maybe the same one that I mentioned earlier), a poster suggesting running dedicated trains out of NY Penn. Going west through Secaucus to the "Waterfront connection" near the sawtooth bridges where the ex-PRR goes over the ex-DLW,...

https://www.nj.com/sports/2024/02/njs-metlife-stadium-will-host-2026-fifa-world-cup-final.html Fantastic! The final and about 8(?) other games will be at Met Life Stadium. I can't find the thread that was active in the last year or so about new plans for getting from Secaucus station to MetLife stad...

Good find! Are you saying that the house is the former station , or that the station went away when train service ended in 1970. The sign isn't 100% clear.

I always thought that to reach northern NJ / New York City for passengers, the LV routed trains over the PRR to Jersey City (PRR Exchange Place station) and later Manhattan (Penn Station). The switch from LV to PRR rails was originally at Metuchen but by 1900 changed to what LV called Newark Junctio...

The post I was responding to was actually at the end of the first page of posts: Hello, Thank you everyone for the helpful information you gave me. Since we are still on the subject of Moonda, does anyone know where was the actual location of the control tower (BS call letter?) on the east end of Mo...

Don't know how I stumbled on this about 15 years after my post just above. In response to the previous post, from Google, I found that BS Tower was apparently on the east end of the viaduct:

Here is Google Street view. The top course of stones always did stick out an inch or so (on both sides). And in the linked image, the bridge sure looks like has taken its whacks.
