The path for the service is not important. NH needs to pay for the cost associated with getting service TO their stop. As far as the infrastructure goes, it's T property up to state line, track upgrades to that point are the responsibility of MA. The T doesn't need to study track upgrades. Economic...

It's a great experience, same ride the MBRE chartered in 2022. Much of it is rare mileage from north of the Common Man Inn, in Plymouth to the Jack-O-Lantern on the Woodstock / Thornton line. Overall there is lots of scenery, quite a few bridges to cross over.. The 2022 edition had 3 non-powered Bud...

I've been living in Merrimack about 5 minutes from Nashua for almost four years now, and I hear the trains go by all throughout the day, yet I've never seen them. Once I was near the tracks and heard the train chugging by, so I raced my car down and it was already gone. I was starting to think I wa...

Hobo railroad now operates under G-COR (general operation rules). 9158 wicwas car has been complete and needs lettering. New engines are rumored to come soon and look to be of larger sizes, patriot has no interest in the alcos. Time will tell what will happen but its not looking good for the old ho...

The tracks must be in a much improved state of repair. NA-1 took a heavy 'high & wide" transformer up the branch that got offloaded around Caldwell Drive in Amherst the other day!

Quite a few of the fully modified Boise Budds are at Grand Canyon. These are the ones that had the roof "exhaust" bumps removed and HEP added. I think the Hobo only has a couple MBTA modified Budds, but theirs are of the ones which retained the proper roof line of an RDC. The others at Li...

Both 959 and 1008 are owned by the State of NH, stored out-of-service, and have been for almost a decade. 1186 does run, the question is would it be used.. There's video, out there in the internets of 1186 running, as recently as this past August.. Great to see 958 pull a passenger train again !

New Hampshire may be interested in Commuter Rail, but the State is not set up financially to contribute to build it, nor subsidize it. I would be curious to know how the NH Democratic Candidate for Governor plans to pay for it.. She has not really explained the money part to voters. There's a few th...

If the Conrail HS wants to save an SD80MAC from CP, they should act sooner rather than later.. There's pix on RR archives of the 6 that CP acquired in various forms of being harvested for parts, one of them.. was stripped pretty good, and that was from last summer. One or Two of these Big Mac 80's h...

While good news spreads, bad news spreads much faster.. I have a hard time believing someone in the ticket office would just tell someone "What do you want us to do about it?", unless that person is totally inept or untrained to deal with customer service issues. If it were me, I would spe...

Last week, I was fortunate enough to go to a Sawx game. Even though I do not reside in the Greater Boston area, my method of going to the game has not changed from when I grew up in the area.. Always taking in the trusty rails of the Subway. Yes, the Sawx are allowing only 4000 fans (if that) into F...

On 10/31/2020, the MBRE charted an excursion with the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad that ran from Meredith, south thru Weirs Beach, Lakeport, downtown Laconia, Winnisquam, all the way to south end of their territory just north of the Silver Lake Road Crossing in Tilton, and back north! It was quite ...
