Amtrak had nothing to do with that table. Itdoes not currently produce PDF or printable timetables. That was prepared by private individuals.

Check with Executive Rail (Catalpa Falls Group). If your group is looking small or you're concerned about making a guaranteed turnout, they may be able to book you into an existing trip.

Brightline is not currently operating on lines with cab signals. The un opened section will be cabs, but the current section is not. Florida East Coast had their own cab signalling system on the main line. It was slightly different from the US&S 4-aspect system. I wasn't aware it was removed.

I've also noted previously that Superliner trains often have to double-stop at stations where the platform isn't long enough; imagine a single level LD train making a quad stop in the middle of the night. Talk about operating inefficiency! As others have noted, there may be an ADA issue with new bi...

Is the Coast Starlight also using the bypass? I recall from some years back that it would be using the old route, the coastal one, because the bypass's grades were too much for it. But what I've found more recently says that the CS will be using the bypass, mostly sources about the reopening of the...

There may be a freight railroad strike on Friday. Conrail listed as a member of the NCCC, the group of carriers collectively bargaining with the freight unions. As I understand it, the intermediate section of the RVL between the ex-CNJ and the NEC is Conrail-owned and -dispatched territory. Has NJT...

If someone said double track or two main tracks I would assume they meant a bi-directional signal system since anything set up after about 1950 would be bi-directional. If you pull out a BNSF employee timetable (the ones publicly on FoBNR's site available are 10+ years old by agreement with BNSF), ...

I am surprised that the Downeaster is "not affected" by the potential strike, given that it travels on CSX rails in Maine and New Hampshire. To me that suggests full integration of former Pan Am (Springfield Terminal) crews into CSX labor agreements hasnot occurred. If you look at the Pre...

"Amtrak could use eminent domain. Condemn the property and demolish." As far as I know Amtrak does not have the authority to invoke "eminent domain". Eminent Domain is an authority granted to the Federal and State Gubermints only. Amtrak is a "corporation" under the Fe...

There were also operational concerns in that the ATS "shoes" would not clear into CUS. That was resolved by removing the shoes at Shopton (present FMD station) and operating X-Illinois @ 79mph. Shopton is now the former FMD station. In 1968, prior to A Day, the ATSF consolidated its two F...

And a lot of stuff (especially older stuff) is "bare metal" with no operating system at all. I must say despite being a bit of a purist and starting out with C and bare metal, I've found that C++ with an RTOS is much easier to program on and maintain. And often, there's minimal performance...

Are these computer languages I'd have heard of? Most microcontroller code is written in C, some newer stuff in C++. Some older DoD stuff is in Ada. Older stuff (and some new stuff where speed or memory usage is a concern) is often written in assembly language. Assembly is very low level and each li...

I know very little about Amtrak staffing. I have observed that all Carolinians have a crew change in Raleigh, all Piedmonts originate in Raleigh (and all Piedmont crews that arrive in Charlotte appear to turn around and return to Raleigh same day). The Crescent has a crew change (and refuel) in Cha...

Plus instead of going with known DM's, regardless of known faults, they ordered 23 DM's, and 23 DE's from a company created by politicians (from what I was told). By "company created by politicians" do you mean EMD and Siemens? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_DE30AC_and_DM30AC (By the t...
