I live just up the road from the museum. Sadly, it appears to be closed permanently. The buildings are in poor shape, and museum's historic artifacts stored in these buildings could not be removed because of some red tape. As of last summer, I guess that they have since been removed and preserved. T...

I did a little digging and located an Annual Report of the Board of Railroad Commissioners of the State of New York for 1906 Vol 1, pg. 124-125 that sheds some light on this thread. Prior to 1906 the West Shore passenger station in Utica was located on Hammond St., near South St., in what today is ...

It does not resemble a WS station. A later NYC replacement maybe? Considering the WS was third rail here maybe it was just this depot? https://www.flickr.com/photos/97630304@N02/16765378939" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The West Shore station at South Utica was clearly bu...

I just got the new West Shore book. Could this be the South Utica station?

Thanks for the info LV325. I'll definitely have to check those bridges out if I'm ever close by. Just wanted to add that there is a very old bridge/culvert behind the Rome Polish home that probably predates the NYC Main. To the best of my knowledge that bridge hasn't been used since January 1913 whe...

Isn't it! Abraham Lincoln went over this bridge, and more than once, including his funeral train. It was used for 115 years, and still in good shape.

I'm curious as to the oldest surviving Railroad bridge in New York State. There is an arch bridge over Oneida Creek, in the city of Oneida predating the New York Central Water Level Route. It is engraved S.&U. RR (Syracuse & Utica) 1851! That's pretty old. It was used until 1965, when the NY...

lvrr325, the Canal St. Line was pulled a couple of years ago, though all the road crossings and associated signs still are in place. Yep, and they did a pretty job cleaning up everything:( except for the crossings. Glad I had the frame of mind to snag a tie plate during the process after eating at ...

Thanks Noel! I have a 1932 N.Y.C. System timetable. It has Chittenango station, but no scheduled stops. Noticed that with several other smaller stations, assuming that they were left in the timetables if still owned by the central, even if no longer in service. So now I know exactly where is was loc...

I think your talking about the West Shore/Third Rail depot? White wood structure, black roof can be seen from highway on the south side of the Mohawk Subdivision.

I noticed MOW crew making major track improvements on the Mohawk, Adirondack, & Northern in downtown Rome. Many new ties, and ever some rail. ROW cleared, and it looks like a new switch was put in at Madison Street to connect a defunct section of track. Anyone know what all the improvements are ...

Wampsville had at least three stations. I get really confused because they were moved several times. The West Shore/Oneida Railway Co. Had a shelter on the south side of the go buggy line, which was moved several times then replaced by the NYC shelter. There was also a wood station built by the NYC,...

Much clearer! Thank you. Well, I thought it could be Mexico, NY, but the windows are too low. Doesn't appear to be Stittville either. It definitely fits the mold of early 20th century NYC branchline stations. But, it may also very well be just as it's labeled, which is the Wampsville NYC station on ...
