Yes, I am surprised Belmar is not on there. Even from a logistical standpoint, there is a huge gap in handicap accessibility between Asbury and Point Pleasant. You would think that if they were going to fill the gap, they wouldn't fill it with the next station after Asbury.

Re: North Jersey Coast Line Thread

I know NJT is in the process of acquiring 20+ new hybrid engines. Any chance they use these engines to eliminate the transfer at Long Branch? That could cut 15 minutes off of a very long trip

This will just be an excuse for them to further kneecap the Coast Line during the summer when it gets unbearably crowded. The fact that there hasn't been direct summer weekend service for the past 4 years on that line is inexcusable. It's even worse that they still run local, making the trip from NY...

Sounds like Long Slip- They are installing 6 new tracks for high level boarding, and also adding some flood resiliency. Glad to see some investment in Hoboken Terminal.

There are 2 NEC trains per hour on the weekend at most hours- also 7800 series. These leave NYP around the :52 of the hour so they are the first ones in line when the tunnel opens up for westbound traffic. This makes sense, since these trains run express from EWR to Metropark, so they don't have any...

Future of the Waterfront Connection

It seems that NJT has all but abandoned the NJCL trains to Hoboken via the Waterfront Connection, which were mostly legacy trains from before the dual mode engines came in (they could run direct service Bay Head-Hoboken). The only train left in the entire system that uses Waterfront is weekday RVL 2...

Seems like the last holdout from COVID service cuts are the NJCL trains to Hoboken via the Waterfront Connection. It's crazy that only one train per weekday (Morning RVL train) utilizes Waterfront.

The dual modes will be used a lot more if and when Gateway and the Secaucus Loop are built

So in between Wall Rd and Pitney Dr? Makes sense because there is a small "Railroad Avenue" there.

Wow, that would be crazy if they did. NJT makes a lot of money on Beat the Clock Service on Tuesdays. Half those kids board the train without a ticket and just pay the $5 surcharge and don't think much of it. Speaking of Lake Como, according to Wikipedia, that line used to have a Como station betwee...

It has been nice to see weekend service back to hourly shuttle between 7 AM and 10 PM on the Coast Line. It's been a few years. Hopefully next Summer they restore the one seat express service on the weekend. Also noticed they have been running the shuttle with 6-8 cars- presumably to allow social di...

Since the RVL lost the NYP-directs with nothing in sight reinstating them, I was wondering what other 'dual-mode' lines were left. RVL Directs have been back in service for over a year now. They cut one late night round trip, but there are 8 round trips direct runs per day. I wish they would run mo...

Actually I just found this article below. Looks like the a study came out with a bunch of different options for RVL full service implementation. 2 of these 6 potential scenarios would cut 2 NJCL peak trains. Honestly I don't think RVL will get rush hour NYP service until Gateway is done. They should...

Wow, I wonder if they are thinking of adding 1 or 2 direct trains on the RVL and taking away a train or 2 from the NJCL. I could see them doing this and "replacing" the cut train with a Bay Head to Hoboken direct train- they actually recently did this to 2602. I doubt they would touch the ...

Now if they could only expand it across the Hack River, through the Ironbound, terminating at Prudential Center or Newark Penn.
