Re: Union voting update, 2022 contract

It is a funny sounding way of doing it - but the reason is they needed a way that it would be edited only after passing both houses - so they could still allow for the only passing the first one case. If it was an amendment to the first one - then only an one bill with the sick leave included would ...

Both passed the House

From what I've read, the first is expected to pass the Senate, and the 2nd not so sure. Only takes the first passing to stop block the strike.

The house is voting on two bills today: The first is: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-joint-resolution/100/text This one implements the currently negotiated deal. The second on is: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-concurrent-resolution/119/text This one modifies ...

Ok, to me this is so easy for Congress to fix. Take the current negotiated deal. Add X days of sick leave. X is like 5. Done.

The issue is that more track capacity is needed. CSX (and NS I suppose since they are half the VRE problem) are not going to add an additional track or two out of their own pocket. That's something that the states will have to fund if they really want to add any capacity. Make it a deal like this: &...

So if Amtrak does some of these proposed reschedules (like leaving later on the Westbound trip), how much ridership is lost when folks who want to see the New River Gorge don't ride since the train will be there after dark? While this train provides important connections for the cities it serves, it...

If Metro extends weekend hours back to the 3pm closing we used to have, FTA will pull a bunch o...

I think I'm wondering whether "Also, the new rail equipment will feature bi-directional operating capability, which will minimize endpoint turnaround times and provide operating efficiency." means more than just seats flipping, Like maybe having cabs to do push pull. Needed for Keystone ob...

"New" Track for Union Station

 by zuckie13 ¦  Mon Dec 17, 2018 9:51 pm ¦  Forum: DC - Maryland - Virginia Area Passenger Rail: MTA(MARC), VRE, WMATA(Metro) ¦  Topic: "New" Track for Union Station ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 2522

Union station is gaining one more track for use. They will be turning Track 22 on the lower level into a useful passenger track.
And for a mere 19 million.

MARC has plenty of idle cars on the weekend (with lots of them at the far end of the lines from Union station so not conveniently available) but some unused on the Penn line as well. They usually pull from the Penn and Camden fleet to make those specials. Problem is, most of the Penn fleet is the MA...

I think Multilevels will be the last choice. Amtrak would probably ask for some Comet cars before trying Multilevels. Like other have said, luggage is a real problem. The only racks where a suitcase fits are in the end sections. On these specaials everyone has a suitcase, so you've got a real big pr...

It would better that CSX allowed an ACSES overlay on the routes used by MARC ,instead of I-ETMS gear shoehorned into MARC equipment! NJT and CRSA are doing a joint install of ACSES and I-ETMS gear on NJT's Raritan Valley Line . It all depends on how that overlay works. Does it require additional wa...

IS CSX not allowing Access for MARC(BBD) Crews to do their install work along he ROW?? MARC does not have to install anything along the ROW. It's CSX's PTC system so CSX does all the trackside installation. MARC only needs to install the compatible equipment on their locomotives and cab cars - and ...

I think FRA and MARC aren't seeing eye-to-eye on things. Sad to say, I think this is going to go to court. The problem is, this is all based on MARC's plan. They submitted a plan, they are behind on that plan and that drives this fine process. So the FRA is looking at what MARC said they would do b...
