Re: North America - Oil Transport By Rail

I wonder if both CN trains were Irving bound? I want to say yes but I have not heard anything yet.

I understand too both derailments were short distances apart, add on the oil spill in Moncton NB last year as well as 2 derailments here and their track record isn't looking too positive.

Was in Saint John this weekend and stopped by the Tim Hortons across from the unloading rack and the island yard seemed full of tanks more than useually so the info on McAdam yard seems clearer now. also noticed more slugs painted up NBSR green couldn't see numbers but the original 008 was at the cr...

NBSR set up the auto facility at its yard in west Saint John its a much better set up Seeing the new Dodge trucks roll out covered in bird crap and God knows what flew off the bridge possibly damaging the paint was probably enough to warrant the move On a side note does anyone know if Fortis obtaine...

Actually they have since last year that area now is just overflow for containers and all the unused forterm trucks and trailers.

Funny to think in the early 70's that pier was the original container terminal and gave Halifax a run for its money with one crane.

Why would the port want to upgrade the 2 tracks at the navy island forest products terminal?

I know of CN's potash operations but there was talk of CP potash that never happened and CN will never hand that over to CMQ that's a given I'm going to go out on a limb and say CMQ is the last operator of the Moosehead, since 1995 there have been now 4 operators and all have failed who would want it...

The last post hit the nail right on the head. JDI wanted the northern Maine operations for access to forest products to help fuel its operations here in NB and keep its operations in Maine going nothing more nothing less any other traffic is the cherry on top I'm interested what CP potash trains are...

So your saying this pipeline will never happen? I guess Irving is building all this infrastructure for nothing

Since your not from here I'll let you know the Irving family is behind this 100% as well as government on all levels as well as private interest

I don't know where you get your facts from

Yes but the unloading racks at both sites (the actual refinery and it's east side terminals location) can't handle 400 cars a day nor are they going to expand both racks and that I have first hand knowledge in once the pipeline is operational these unit trains will be gone

Just wondering where your getting the 400 cars a day numbers from? I've talked to a few friends that work for Irving and the refinery capacity a day is 300,000 of different products like acid gas diesel liquid asphalt not all are shipped by rail The current pipeline spec is 1.1 million barrels per d...

This is true the new increased size pipe will help in shipping times with export Also sorry should have included the barges in the feeder ships group although small peanuts in the overall picture the export in our own backyards from these small barges and tankers is an important part in Irving servi...

Most finished product is shipped by truck thru the northeast US by another Irving firm RST and by Irving tanker trucks themselves also by smaller feeder tanker ships at its east side terminal location. the same location where the new discharge racks are for unloading tank cars. Canaport will be much...

Would like to see unit CP trains out of Mack Point to compete with CN at Halifax or St. John but I don't think that will happen. CP Rail was a partner along with a large shipping agent in the Brunterm container terminal here in Saint John from the mid 70's to its exit in 95. They have NO interest i...

Far as I understand the Irving family has interest in Eastport only for shipping paper products, where ever this container port idea came up is foolish and only a pipedream, same with Searsport its NEVER gonna happen.
