Re: CSX to acquire Pan Am Railways

Back to the $100 Million that CSX is promising to invest, how much of that is to do the work Pan Am already had grants for? The Royal jct to Waterville upgrade was in the ballpark of $20 million, without looking at the PDF to be sure of the number, the Waterville to Mattawamkeag project included bri...

In terms of CBR, post Lac Megantic, I'm not sure any of the shippers want to be moving trains over 5-10 MPH track, so once CSX upgrades the line, that issue is reolved. CSX should also be able to provide more competitive pricing now that it's a one line haul East of Chicago vs 2. BNSF originated CB...

The only reason I could see NHCR getting involved, is that they receive plastic pellets by rail. Most likely they will be speaking about the improved route times should the sale be approved.

After hearing about the leadership at Iron Horse Park, I am surprised that CSX plans on keeping them around. It would be in the railroads best interest to do a mass purge and start fresh.

One of the long time disputes between the train crews and management was that Conway doesn't pay into railroad retirement. That issue was there long before the current ownership arrived in the valley, but in the grand scheme of things has pushed a lot of the trained personnel to other railroads.

The public shaming is much deserved. The ownership of Conway Scenic has shown time after time that he is incapable of following through with what he says. I can see with all of the events in the past two years that there might be some difficulties in running a tourist based operation. But this repea...

As the dredging and monitoring for mercury from Holtrachem extends south, I am certain they will find some around Searsport. Based off of the BDN article CPF66 shared, that's what was stirring up many of the environment lovers last time. Which that material would have to be excavated anyway, so whil...

So is this to say, Mr. Backroad, that the "Fathers" of Searsport wish to forego industrial activity in favor of another Southwest Harbor so that the Fairfield Navy will make such a Port of Call on their Summer cruises? The description you have set forth certainly suggests that is where th...

The 113 is a control point and the whole area from roughly 112 to 114 is all from when the roadways in downtown Waterville were rerouted into the current form, which required the realignment of the track pattern. Which is likely for the "long" mile. It could also be due to the placement of...

Are we overlooking Searsport? Is that becoming a "niche" as well? I wouldn't completely rule out Chessie accessing such. No question whatever, maritime companies prefer ports with two roads. Could that double Searsport's traffic? That would be a win-win for everyone: 1) Good paying UNION ...

Has anyone been paying attention to PARs Hy-Rail trucks. I haven't looked into it however I've been told the Systems logo has been removed from them as of late. Some of the new trucks have yet to get the logos applied. I have noticed more F-350's with tool beds as of late, compared to the 2010 era ...

Not to mention both cities have opposed any expansions of the waterfront for years. And thats something that CSX can't change.

Based off videos on various social media sites, 142/251 have been very short lately, unless Saint John gets a ship in. Most noticeably (it might just be me missing the cars), but I haven't seen a loaded car of Irving lumber in a while going west.
