Yes. They get the occasional load. A few weeks ago I saw one.
The ties that marked the end of the track just before Patterson Lane have been removed.
They were renumbered by CSX last year.
Thanks for the followup. I wonder what reason they renamed the MP's in descending order from Rockingham in the first place. Seems to me it would make sense to keep it ascending just in case active track gets added like in this case. Also, on that note, does anyone know if there are any mile post mar...
Yes likely just operational. It's controlled between P13 (old P1) at the start of the branch near Rockingham Junction to Emery which is around around P5 (old P9) and past that I guess it really doesn't matter as its the yard and the industrial track.
The old MP-P14 mile post marker is on the disused section of track past Patterson Lane. When CSX changed the mile posts to count down instead of up from Rockingham P1 is now by the SubCom/Tyco spur. Would they create a MP-P0 now where MP-14 was? Or not bother at all?
Ah yes you were describing the old bridge... I didn't actually catch that.. it must be early...
Here is a video from Eric Reuter showing the first rail vehicle over the new bridge. It's a nice view as he was stood on the bridge itself.

Thanks for the write up. I took a video a few years ago of the bridge lowering to let the train through.

I have not seen any photos of the train coming back to Portsmouth yesterday so I would also love to see those!
503-506 took the DODX car over the bridge this morning around 9:20. It left the DODX car on the short siding outside the Navy base. Both engines entered the Navy base. Not sure what happened after that? A guess would be that 503-506 picked up another load from the base to return to Portsmouth?Maybe ...
Looking at pictures on the GE website and given that its not placarded for nuclear, I'd say that its a rotor for the steam propulsion turbine. Thanks. Yes, no security caboose with it either so that makes sense. There are a few Tyco cars in the yard. Not sure whether or not they are awaiting delive...
A couple of updates... The old station building has been moved back away from the tracks, rotated 180 degrees and is suspended above it's new foundation. A DODX flat car with some sort of contraption on top was moved to Portsmouth Yard yesterday lunch time. As of 9am this morning it is still in the ...
Boo hoo. You live near a rail yard... expect trains
Here is a drone shot of the old station at Rockingham Junction and the new foundation where it is due to be moved to soon. Looks like they will rotate it by 180 degrees.
