Ford moved out of Edgewater in the mid-1950's. It was part of the reason that Henry Norton was forced out as President of the NYS&W. Sea-Train moved out around 1973. For a brief time Sea-Train moved back to their original location on the Hoboken Shore Railroad, but they failed by the mid 1970's....

Unless the WW&F has a time machine or is doing a lot of trackwork this year, that is going to be a heck of a walk to make the M&E/WW&F transfer!

RS1 240 is on the Tioga Scenic/Wellsboro & Corning, out of service.

I think keeping the one train a week to Branchville was more a way of avoiding a hearing in front of the State's PUC. Since the Hoboken to Branchville run was entirely within the state of NJ they would have to approve the complete discontinuance of service north (timetable west) of Newton.

Yes, still intact. It is not recommended to go on it as it is on private property and the owner aggressively patrols and detains trespassers.

Almost all of the remaining S2's and RS1's were scrapped where they sat at Little Ferry. As I recall everything that was left laying around Little Ferry when the original SeaLand deal was signed in 1986 was cleaned out. There were a few boxcars and a tank car or two that went at the same time. What ...

Does it have any markings like CNJ or CRRNJ, or "Jersey Central". If it does then I thin you are looking at the $300 to $400 range. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to tie it to the Blue Comet so I am valuing it as just CNJ, which would still be rare. If it doesn't have any CN...

To me the types of cars represented is more important than the railroad they came from. The cars from LA were interesting and it was interesting to get the perspectives of the owners and passengers on those cars who were on a two week trip via Amtrak. You had multiple NYC cars that can be documented...

How about the 1993 trip using RDC M-1. Originated at Newfoundland, went to Susquehanna Transfer with photo stops at Maywood, Rochelle Park and Little Ferry drawbridge. Then westbound held at Passaic Jct. for an eastbound stack train. Then a straight shot to Warwick. Back east with a side trip down t...

The engineering firm that owns the Great Meadows station purchased the track and right of way for about 1/4 mile each way from the station so that it would remain. His purchase of the station was quite a story. The estate of the L&HR sold him the land for a very small amount because the property...

As I recall, the 240 was sold to an individual associated with the Tioga Central, not the TC itself. Both the 238 and the 252 operated after 240 left the NYS&W. I believe the 252 was lasted used for the once a week Sparta Jct. to Warwick run that operated before the Butler to Sparta Jct. segment...

My understanding was that Susie Q was the result of a contest that was thought up by Irving Maidman. Not sure if it was employees or the children of employees but this was the concept that won. I think the winner got a small number of shares of NYS&W stock. At least once they held a "SusieQ...

The low nose C420 (was it the 2000?) pulled an early inspection trip through the tunnel and into Edgewater. Don't know if it ever pulled a freight train to Edgewater.
